I believe that the best way to judge a hotel is asking whether you may came back or not. Well, in order to make this very objective and totally non biased I will allow my children and wife to answer this question regarding Hotel Funivia: a big big YES!!! In any context and in any place, this hotel would be an excellent hotel. Personnel are friendly and helpful. Rooms and more than comfortable; everything is tidy and furniture is not excessive. Bathroom –at least in the case of my room- was new and perfect. Food is tasty, Italian cuisine; menu varies every day and comes in several dishes making it, to some extent, too much if you are trying to control your weight. The wine list is fair. Access and public areas are classic for a snow & sport resort. Wi-Fi works smoothly although you may require renewing your access code on a daily basis. The spa area & gym is fair and functional to the ski & bike activities, likewise the pool & solarium. Now, bringing the facilities into the context of Bormio, you may immediately tell that we are talking about a seasonal hotel oriented to tourists during holidays and, therefore, the amenities and alternatives of such a wonderful place in Italy and Südtirol amplify the already high appreciation of Hotel Funivia. Special mention is to be made to the amenities available for children, baby-sitting, food, etc. In few words, this is not only a good hotel, is also a perfect sport hostel, and a marvelous family oriented lodge. If you think these are already good reasons to choose Hotel Funivia, you are right, however, I encourage you to hear the following: If the purpose of your trip is flying to Italy, particularly visiting Bormio because you are a cycling fan as I am, and you know that Bormio is the bicycle Mecca that allow you to attack the historically famous Passo dello Stelvio, the epic Passo de Gavia and the challenging Passo de Mortirolo…. Well if you are one of those crazy fans…. Let me tell you that Hotel Funivia is THE hotel for you. In order to explain this assertion, I think you may know that in Bormio there are hundreds of hotels, large, small, many… all of them are “Cycling & Bikers Friendly”, but there is only one, which is property of, run by, and focused only on, a bicycle rider and his/her family. That hotel is the Funivia! No question, no other. That said, I beg to check its bicycle facilities and support resources, including the continuing organization of perfect cycling routes, bike rental, workshop and guardroom, cleaning, laundry…. Etc. etc. etc. You will feel a “pro” under the expert advice rendered by the bicycle guides. Everything here is oriented and meticulously thought for bicycle riders, for our needs and to make as live the experience that we wanted to have and for what we have traveled from far away to live in the hearth of cycling-Italy. The crucial combination that gives Hotel Funivia and advantage to other hotels in Bormio relays on the fact that it provides a perfect mix of cycling experience and family life; therefore, if your plan is to bring your family with you when visiting Bormio in the context of bicycle riding, you shall make reservation at Hotel Funivia. I will finish this review exactly from where I started… we will come back to Bormio, and there will only one alternative to stay… guess where?
