“Absolutely magnificent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

This family-run hotel was absolutely superb. Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and convenient and have a lovely terrace, excellent bike storage room with all the tools you would require for maintenance, if you're in to cycling, this is the hotel to stay! Both breakfast and diner are very good with plenty of choice and staff try to help out with every request you have. I had a sunburn but forgot aftersun, and they managed to sort me out. Best hotel service I have experienced in years!

We used Genzianella as a base for some great cycling in the Dolomites. The hotel provided everything we needed; secure bike parking, tools, overnight laundry, maps with suggested rides and lovely food. Really good attention to detail and it was a shame not to have booked more nights here. Recommend it for non-cyclists too.

We run cycle trips all over Europe and Hotel La Genzianella is simply the best hotel we use. Fede, Marta and family make you so welcome with a attention to detail that is second to none. The food is better than many Michelin star restaurants. Can't wait to return.

I experienced it as a great hotel, with awesome hospitality of the family and entire crew, and the food is delicious!
Next to that it is an ideal hotel for cycling holidays - with a fully equipped bike room and free laundry service for cycling gear.
Challenging cols are in the near area of the hotel: Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo.
Had a very nice week all together!

Our stay at Genzianella was heavenly after the heat and bustle of Milan. We felt taken care of from the moment we arrived. Alpine chic is a good way to describe the rooms, which are well-designed and spotless. The beds and luxurious linens are incredibly comfortable. It was such pleasure to wake up to the view of the mountains every morning. We agree with reviewers about the excellent food. We especially enjoyed the fresh yogurt, local honey, and perfectly cooked eggs at the abundant breakfast. Dinners also were outstanding, from delicious local pasta dishes to a rabbit terrine our 11-year-old raved about. Federica, Marta and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, from our initial inquiry to date change requests and up through our last minute. Thanks to La Genzianella, our family had a perfect four days in Bormio.

This place is ideal for a cycling trip in the Dolomite / Italian Alps cycling holiday. We stayed just two days, and only got to ride the Stelvio but was worth the effort. The hotel is perfectly situated in the town, at the base of the Stelvio and as far as I could tell, most everyone there was cycling. The breakfast was the best I had on the entire 3 week trip and the staff were very accommodating and pleasant.

We stayed at La Genzianella for 4 nights in July 2013 and loved every minute of it. The hotel is a 5 minute stroll to the village which was ideal for us as close enough to access the village but far enough away to be nice and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a real family feel to the hotel. The hotel was spotless and the rooms are a good size and the bike room is well equppied, spacious and very secure - I had no qualms about leaving my top end bike there. The stand out though was the food, dinner is up to 4 courses and the food is of a very high standard - a rustic, homestyle feel to it and truly delicious. I doubt the local restaurants would be any match for this. Equally breakfast is very generous and offers plenty of variety. All up this is a great hotel and I woudln't think twice about recommending it and would definitely stay there again given the chance!
