“Very happy stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

Chosen from the internet, we were so pleased to find a comfortable, typically Italian, family run hotel. Marco was so welcoming and friendly and went out of his way to help us when we had a problem with our hire car. It was his day off but he accompanied us to a local garage and sorted it all out for us. Good restaurant across the road so we didn't have to go far for an evening meal. We would certainly recommend Hotel Pennile!

We stayed here for a one night stop over on our way North. Our reasonably priced room was very good value for money. It was comfortable and spotlessly clean. As other reviews have mentioned, the level of service was very high. Marco who runs the hotel could not have been more helpful and welcoming- far better than the impersonal service from the large chain hotels.

Dear Carrie, on my behalf and on behalf of all the staff, thank you so much for your stay at our hotel and for your great review.

We are a small independent hotel, we are not a 5 star hotel, and we have to focus on customization of the service in order to distinguish ourselves from our competitors. In addition to this reason, of course, is also a great pleasure for us to read words like yours: thanks again!

Best Regards - Marco

Recommended by a family member and I would recommend to any fellow traveller. Although initially hard to find on arrival we were met by Marco who could not have been more friendly, accommodating and efficient. The rooms are basic but comfortable and cleaned daily.

The restaurant across the street Mister Okay was typical Italian food fantastic service and very reasonable price. I would recommend the house red or white wine.

The breakfast at the hotel was continental and you can have as much coffee as you like, during the day the coffee is also free.

There is a pool down the road from the hotel which I believe is €3-5 entry and the running track which is €1 entry.

We recommend the local beach which Marco will give clear directions to. Marco is also happy to book any local recommended restaurant if you wish to dine outside.

Also recommended is the short walk into Ascoli Pisceno centre where you must try Olive de Ascoli which are breaded olives filled with meat.

The hotel has maps available and will endeavour to give you the directions to wherever you need to go.

The Pennile is located on a beautiful hillside in Ascoli Pisceno. It is truly family run, with the owners always on the premises treating every guest as a cherished friend. The hotel, including the rooms, is decorated with beautiful original artwork. The hallway is a gallery of Impressionist prints. Son Marco speaks English, a plus for us. when we discovered that we were leaving on an Italian holiday and Avis was closed, he got us a taxi, arranged with Avis to pick up our car, and advised us to buy our bus tickets in advance because the bus station would be closed. His parents were extremely helpful and friendly. We were able to communicate well in spite go the language barrier. Breakfast was lovely and Italian. This is a much better way to visit Italy than staying in a chain hotel. Ascoli Pisceno is a beautiful place filled with wonderful people. Thank you Pennile.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful with balconies. The rooms are quiet and restful. We are senior citi...

We stayed here for a week and had a lovely time in this interesting an beautiful city. The family who run the hotel are very helpful, Marco especially, and he speaks good English. The rooms are plain but clean and comfortable, with a good sized bathroom and a balcony/terrace. The breakfast is a nice continental buffet. There is also a small bar, from which the staff will provide drinks/coffee etc. on request. The location is on a hill above Ascoli Piceno, so is quiet and pretty. It is a fair walk into the city centre, but there is free car parking. There is also a good pizza/pasta resturaunt just across the lane from the hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel overlook a terrace with a pretty pool with fountains.

This is a family run hotel which is most charming. I cannot say enough about the sincerity and helpfulness of the staff, particularly Marco. For a more than reasonable rate, I received a room with a balcony and an extremely clean, decent sized bathroom. Considering I do not usually spend significant time in my hotel on trips to Europe, fresh air and pristine accommodations without a hefty portfolio make all the difference in the world. I loved the fact that the property was located back above the city within a plush setting...steps away from an old castle within a safe neighborhood. One possible setback may be no fine dining but the stay does include breakfast, caffe and a very tiny bar. Across the street is an old restaurant popular among the locals. Furthermore, there is a late-night pub / pizzeria within walking distance named La Cittadella. I must say the owners here are fabulous as well. My visit to this city, the culture and the people are unforgettable. I can only hope to return someday in the future
