“Wonderful”

Tough to get to - most GPS databases do not know of one-way streets and pedestrian areas - but once you're there, it's simply perfect. It's right around the block from Piazza del Populo, the building itself is fascinating, rooms are very clean, all services were good. Breakfast could be improved, everything else is spot on.

Having spent a long day traveling from Florida, we finally arrived at Palazzo dei Mercanti on a rainy evening. What a welcomed suprise. This former monastery for nuns had been transformed into a very chic and comfortable hotel in the middle of the astounding old city of Ascoli Piceno, Italy. Not only was the whole hotel beautifully done, it had a very helpful receptionist, AND had a wonderful restaurant next door for that evening along with a perfert restaurant suggestion for the next day. All of this with reasonable prices. The picturesque Piazza del Popolo is just minutes away. This is a charming, nontouristy area of Italy.
I can only dream that I'll return.

stayed for 2 1/2 days in ascoli piceno -- an amazing town with lots of very old churches (many of which are closed most of the time!) -- at palazzo dei mercanti. excellent location right in heart of historic center. lovely old palazzo renovated and modernized to the nines. very comfortable room, good wifi, nice bathroom, ac worked well. service is exemplary, especially the personnel at the front desk: friendly, helpful, quick. couldn't have been better!

Hotel Palazzo dei Mercanti is a wonderful experience! Marvellous renovation of an old convent. Excellent hotel in the center of a beautiful Ascoli Piceno, a discovery. Very friendly and warm welcome! Rooms VERY clean and everything you need is there. Wonderful breakfast. Good tips for exploring the surroundings and restaurants in the neighborhood. Warmly recommended! Make reservation for a parking place in advance.

The place is perfect. In a quaint old building but beautifully renovated using very high quality modern amenities that have a classic feel and blend beautifully with the old-world charm. The place absolutely sparkled and is in pristine condition. The spa was an incredible playground, we had it all to ourselves and it seemed brand-new and untouched by others. Very high quality materials went into building it. We had a standard room and it was fairly small but not atypical of europe and not uncomfortable. The place is definitely hard to find even with a GPS but its location is perfect in a charming town. Service was impeccable, breakfast very pleasant as well. We tried to extend our stay but the hotel was full and so we spent out last night at the nearby Albergo Piceno, which was also nice but not as beautiful as this property. If your choice is between the two, go with this one.

Palazzo dei Mercanti is a jewel in a wonderful little town! It was clean, comfortable, spacious, elegant, and quiet. The staff was very accommodating and gracious! The parking was very good. I would highly recommend this town and this hotel!

Palazzo dei Mercanti ticks all the boxes a hotel need to tick: professional and friendly service, comfortable nicely decorated rooms, everything functions, staff full of helpful advice, parking service, location right in the centre of town, and that at the right price. A pleasure to stay there. Not full scores because the aircondition is noisy (and needs to run also during warm summer nights), the breakfast room feels strangely cool and sterile. Furthermore, it is not a luxury place - but that's not at all a bad thing; it is a superior, comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable hotel, which makes any additional luxury features irrelevant. Palazzo dei Mercanti should serve as a model for hoteliers around the world - this is what travellers want!
