Having led 9 school ski trips to various locations around Europe I can honestly say none have come close to offering the quality of hotel and accommodation that Gino and the Hotel Saint Martin offer... forget school trips - I will be returning with my family in the very near future.
Rooms are basic but clean, warm and with everything you need. The food (sit down 3 course at lunch and dinner) was varied throughout the week and the quality of the pasta dishes particularly good. Gino and his team work tirelessly to make sure you are comfortable and with all you need - after a midnight stumble where I injured my arm he himself quickly organised transport and support for me to visit the neighbouring towns hospital and TOLD the driver to wait for me at no extra charge (Gino is almost Don Corleone in his stature within the town - but the nice guy version!).
Ski room and storage is excellent and as has been mentioned elsewhere, 2 different gondolas are both within 100m of the hotel. Aprica skiing is around 50km total but the pistes were some of the best I have skied on, especially given it was early April.
The only other thing to say is the hotels bar is something I wish I could relocate back in the UK - large measures, comfortable surroundings and light on the wallet - makes for a fun après ski!
To sum up, a great resort, a fantastic hotel and owner, and well worth it's reputation as #1 hotel in Aprica... enjoy!
