“nice friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2010

thought i would have a problem finding this place but i was heading in the right direction and found it towards the end, on arrival my room was not ready but they looked after my bag while i went and had a bite to eat. staff was very friendly but only one spoke english but was very helpful ( alassio is a place where the italians go for a holiday so english is not widely spoken but you can get by with a few words of italian and restuarants have english wording beneath the italian words on the menu ) i was in a single room which was small but very well laid out and very clean also has air conditioning and a ceiling fan, also a bonus the room had a balcony with a table and chair. by reception there is a computer with internet free for customers to use. the hotel is opposite the beach about 20 yards away so you could go for a early mourning dip before breakfast if you wished, as its on the seafront there is plenty of places to eat and drink

We were travelling along the Ligurian coast and stopped in Alassio and decided to stay after we found the Beau Rivage. Lovely but small room overlooking the beach. Everyone friendly and helpful. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to stay a bit longer next time.

We were looking for a small hotel in Alassio (one hour and 15 minutes from Nice) for one night to get away from our home outside of Nice. I booked this hotel the night before we arrived which in view of the time of the year (late June) somewhat supprised me. I tried the Savoia, but they were fully booked.
The hotel is located right on the beach. Our room was small, but had a view of the sea, fan (no air conditioning), a reasonably sized bathroom, and a large double bed. We originally booked the room only, but ended up having lunch at the hotel when we arrived. Lunch was great, fresh pasta, grilled squid, antipasti. Not haute cusinine, but very tastey. Dinner would have been only an extra 9 euros a piece, but we elected to try one of the restaurants nearer to town.
The center of town is about a 5 minute walk along the beach. Alassio is a typical Italian family beach town. Lots of grandparents pushing baby carriages, and young people looking for action.
The main attraction of Alassio is the beach which is sand (not rocks), and shallow out for about 50 yards. The 30 plus private beach areas are well maintained. We paid 15 euros for the day for the beach (twenty yeards in front of the hotel) for two lounge chairs, an umbrella, changing room, shower toilet, etc. Very clean and organized.
Alassio unlike many small beach towns has some upscale restaurants, and shops.
If you want to experience a touch of middle class Italy at rhe beach this is about as good as it gets. And, as my wife noted, there are more things to do and see than in Porto Fino. This is not the Spendido in Porto Fino, but our total tab out the door (including private parking and a botttle of wine at lunch) was 200 euros. Good value for the money.

Stayed here in June 2006. Just across the street from one of the best beaches in Italy, this small hotel ozzes charm & friendlness. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. The owner and all the staff are very friendly.

We took the half board option at the hotel & you could not beat the quality of the food & the value. You could enjoy up to 7 courses although we did not partake in all the courses. We couldn't wait for our dinners and found them all to be delicious. Even though it is a small hotel they had a large number of desserts from which to select and the meals were the highlight of staying at the Beau Rivage.
