“Stylish, welcoming, relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

We spent 3 nights here during a trip round Sicily. Silvia and Giuseppe have created a wonderfully stylish and comfortable agriturismo, with beautiful accommodation - large rooms and bathrooms - lovely relaxing lounges, a pleasant converted "gebbia" for a quick swim and helpful, friendly staff. Although our room was in one of the buildings nearer the main road, we did not hear traffic from within it, so had undisturbed sleep. Delicious breakfasts, enjoyed outside in the sun. Our only disappointment was dinner. Yes, we enjoyed sitting at a large table for one night and meeting other guests (the other two nights that table was taken up by tour groups - lots of Americans the first night, Swiss olive oil tasters (who knew there was such a thing?). Encouragingly, the food was simple home cooking. However, it was comfortably the least flavoursome of the 3 agriturismos we stayed in during our trip and the other two were basic, functional agriturismos costing a fraction of the price of this place.

We stayed here for 3 days and 3 nights in early May 2011 as part of a longer trip to Sicily. We easily voted this as our best part of the holiday although it would have been even better had the weather been kinder.
The real pluses were the beautiful accomodation, grounds, hospitality and especially the food!.
The slight negative was the location because although usefully close to the Greek ruins in Agrigento (well worth a full day trip atleast) the site of the hotel is somewhat isolated and close enough to the main road that you can hear traffic when outside.
We had never stayed in an "Agriturismo" hotel before but it was everything we hoped it would be. Whilst it had the privacy of a top hotel we also enjoyed the experience of eating home cooked sicilian food sourced from local ingredients (and of course the splendid home produced olive oil) in the main house with the other guests (including some dining only guests). The food was simple yet exquisite and served by the so friendly hosts and their charming staff. The dining experience was special as there was just one sitting for dinner in the dining room with all guests eating the same menu and just like being at home there were 'seconds' if you could manage more! Private yet friendly and we felt it was a true Sicilian experience.
We stayed in one of the beautiful suites which are just away from the main house. The furnishings and decor were so tasteful yet quite simple and rustic. The accomodation was very spacious and light.
The grounds, including the rows of olive trees, are expansive and there are plenty of places to sit quietly. The pool, a little climb from the house, is perfect and would have been used more had the weather been kinder.
We would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: suites are in a separate block and over 2 floors to avoid stairs chose ground floor suite

We had a wonderful stay at Mandranova. The food was delicious, the room relaxing, the house welcoming, the garden inviting. We met the other guests in the evening and that was always very pleasant. Thanx to Guiseppe's touch there was a very nice atmosphere, an eclectic happening in a rural setting. The olive oil and the roasted almonds we received at home a week after our stay brought us right back to this little Sicilian paradise.

Room Tip: We had a room in the main house and that was very quiet. On the grounds you can hear the road but th...

We stayed at la robazza for a week wich was over all nothing short but a nightmare .
Silvia and Giuseppe might appear fakely friendly upon arrival it is just to better insult the personal in front of guest few second after .
The house was sleek ,the pool very nice ,the view could have been fantastic but the scar of a highway noisy all the time is unbearable.
At night we've been eaten alive by mosquitoes even with plugs candle and repellent my two kids who was sharing the bedroom upstair where covered by bites from head to toe ,all this still at the sound of heavy trucks and fast motorcycles from the road.
The kitchen ,if we can call it so had very restrictive material and the electric device were poor.
There is nothing to do around this area but the temple wich are half an hour away.

Room Tip: Do not stay here unless you really have to .

Staying here was a high point of our trip to Sicily; in fact, this was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in anywhere. It's a convenient drive to Agrigento. (Although it's near the main road, we weren't troubled by any noise.)The grounds are very nicely kept, and the pool though small (I believe it is a converted cistern) beautiful and very pleasant. We ate at the hotel both nights we were there, and the food was really delicious--excellent value for the quantity and quality. Silvia arranged cooking classes for our daughters, and Giuseppe gave them a tour of his olive presses. Both were as gracious and helpful as one could imagine. The room was elegant and very comfortable as well.

At Mandranova, Silvia and Giuseppe have brought a personal vision to life, which they generously share with you. From the moment you pull off the dusty highway to Agrigento into this farm/resort/kitchen/home, you enter an alternative reality of elegant architecture, palm-shaded gardens and inspired contemporary art by emerging artists (they host a smart artist-in-residence program) where everything you eat is rustically delicious, everything you drink comes with a story from Giuseppe, where fellow travelers become fast friends, and life is just about as perfect as can be. Long lazy mornings by the pool that's tucked up in the olive grove among cactus and carob trees. Long lazy lunches at rough wooden tables in the farmhouse dining room. Long busy afternoons in the kitchen helping Silvia rustle up fried arancini, fresh pasta all Norma, zucchini soup with prawns, beef involtini on the grill, caponata, perhaps an almond semifreddo for dessert. (O the foodie bragging rights you earn after a few hours cooking with Silvia -- not to mention the therapeutic benefits of calmly frying kilos of aubergines.) Drawn-out evenings on the terrace with new friends and chilled prosecco by candlelight while the palm leaves rustle in the breezy sirocco that blows in from Africa. All this on a hardworking farm that's producing some of the most delicious, pure, award-winning olive oil on the planet. I dreamt of this place before I ever got here. And I dream of returning, often.

Room Tip: They're all good, and different. Some have their own roof terraces. The three rooms in the conve...

We have travelled Italy several times now and this has been one of the best places we have stayed. Directions were great and easy to find. We stayed 3nights, on arrival finding the infinity pool was amazing, great views over the olive groves. The room was brilliant, very spacious, cool, comfortable and a very modern bathroom. Staying for dinner is a must and the food was some of the best we have eaten in Italy, great wine (very inexpensive) and lovely hosts this hotel/guest house is absolutely top class!
