5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We needed a base to visit the Valley of the Temples for one night in June and booked this hotel on the basis of Trip Advisor recommendations and we weren't disappointed. We made our booking by phone and the lady who we spoke to could not have been more charming or helpful. When we arrived we were given an equally charming greeting and were allocated a very nice room at the very top of the hotel with a large terrace with views of the temples. The hotel is excellently located. Although it seems predominantly used by coach parties this did not spoil our enjoyment at all. The most striking aspect was the genuine interest of the staff in the hotel. Several of them encouraged us to use 'our beautiful gardens' which were very nice and the manager found time to come and talk to us even though it was a busy Saturday night with two coach parties. His obvious pride in the hotel was very refreshing. We would highly recommend this hotel and were very pleased we hadn't gone to the more expensive one down the road.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the large terrace on the top floor.

Staff, food, location, prices. All excellent. We only spent one night there, but enjoyed it, including the restaurant, which achieved excellence on all fronts, food, service, and value. Plus excellent banter with the maitre de about Red Mullet and Inspector Montelbano. Would certainly use again

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the temples

Style wise a little bit stuck in a time warp. Good facilities. Nice terrace with good views of valley of the temples. Breakfast satisfactory. Bit of a walk into town, good for a workout. Flexible with check out time. Room less spacious than hoped but was ok.good for a short stay nonetheless.

The hotel common areas are lovely, especially the gardens, the terrace overlooking the ruins, and the sitting areas downstairs. The staff was very pleasant, spoke English well, and helped us book a nighttime guided tour of the ruins. However, they seemed to lack other knowledge of the town, restaurants, or the area, which was odd.

Our room was fairly standard, with no exceptional view, and since our room faced west, we had to close our blinds in the afternoon as the room was warm and the AC was poor. The room was very clean, the bathroom very nice with a good shower. Our room had a very good wifi signal, which was great for downloading maps for the next day and reading restaurant reviews. There were convenient outlets next to the beds for charging our phones.

Breakfast was adequate, and you can order a cappuccino or espresso or custom eggs. There were also scrambled eggs on the buffet table.

The terrace is a lovely place for drinks at sunset. Our one dinner at the hotel restaurant on the terrace was just OK (there are much better restaurants in town and down the street). All restaurants required a drive (as did the temples), and we were happy we had a car and free parking at the hotel. The issue about walking wasn't just the distance (not a great distance, but far enough) and the heat (very hot until sunset), but the lack of sidewalks, and many hills.

We recommend Colleverde when visiting Agrigento as the price was right, but we think our 3 nights should have been only 2. See the ruins at night (if you can) and spend the day at a beach. We spent our second full day driving to Caltagirone and Villa Romani (worth the drive). It would have been more convenient to just stay in that area rather than drive back to Agrigento, since we were on our way to Taormina the next day.

We stayed 2 nights at the Colleverde Park. It had fantastic views from our rooms as well as from their lovely terrace garden. The rooms were comfortable, the air conditioner worked well, and the restaurant offered very good food for breakfast and dinner. Would return on our next trip to Sicily!
