“Tired and old”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

We were moved to this hotel having originally booked to stay elsewhere and we were a little underwhelmed.

It is not clear what facilities give rise to the 4* rating as there aren't really any facilities other than a garden which has a terrace with good views of the Valley of the Temples.

The service was unimpressive with somewhat unwelcoming reception staff.

Having said that, the room was clean and comfortable and we had a good night's sleep which was the main thing!

Be warned, it is a little tricky to find if you're not sure where you're going.

The setting for this hotel is magnificent ....below the Greeknperiod ruins of Agrigento which you can see lit at night, in a beautiful garden setting. We had no hot water. The room was very small with no air conditioning which was needed. Bathroom design wa such that it was difficult to get in and out. No shower and no stand for hand shower in bath tub. Plaster peeling in chunks off the ceiling. Breakfast fine. It staff too disinterested to set it out side under the beautiful pergola. Management rude in the extreme .... Verbally abusive to our tour guide who tried to explain what had been promised on a pre tour discovery trip. Who gives these star ratings? Absolutely not worthwhile.

This charming hotel could use a little upgrading. The courtyard with comfortable seating beautiful flowers and wifi which comes and goes is most relaxing after a day of touring the Greek ruins. The breakfast was adequate. But
all in all this hotel was so soothing and peaceful and that is why I would recommend it.

Moderately nice but it's hard to see anything positive about this hotel if you cannot find it after a long and extra drive. So I do not recommend it. It lies next to a busy road, it has no restaurant so you have to get out once again in the evening and hopefully find your way back. Staff is friendly but lacks the ability to explain the way to another sister hotel where you can dine. This other hotel has arrogant and non-friendly staff. All in all an unpleasant stay; cannot recommend it. If you've stayed at Minareto hotel in Syracuse no other hotel can compare in location, hospitality and service!!

Small room, noise of street hinders, lamps not working, no shelf in shower, lies in a desert space, very very hard to find. Staff is very friendly, but no dinner in hotel is possible, you'll have to go to a sister hotel some 800 mtrs away. Conclusion: 4 stars no way

A beautiful old building with gardens, fountains , views and covered patio area , unfortunately the gardens need tending , the fountains are dry and the outside seating needs cleaning. This place has seen better times and needs a lot of money spent on it to make it a 4 star. I'm not sure if there was a lounge and there was no bar, although drinks could be served. The whole place seemed to be manned by one receptionist and a waiter at breakfast. That said the receptionist was very helpful, the rooms clean and the plumbing adequate. A good position for the temples, and once you find the hotel for the first time...the location becomes easier to find!

Room Tip: Choose one facing the temples as road noise could be an issue on the other side

Lovely old building beautiful setting however inadequate signs delayed our arrival by some time super view of Temples from large patio area which has very comfortable seating in the morning or with an aperitif when the lighting for the temples has just come alive .pleasant and helpful staff nice bedrooms/ bathrooms not large but pleasant decor slightly fraying around edges upstairs but this appears to make it quirky rather than shabby.Excellent breakfast served outside.downside near highway , no evening meals available so taxi/drive needed.we eat once at sister hotel close by food excellent staff unfriendly even surly to all
