“Worst hotel visited in Sicily”

Stay at the Colleverde Park Hotel instead, please, it's awful here. After spending one night at the Kaos (nearby) which was also awful, the bartender suggested this place. He said it was 3 times better. It was actually worse.

As we were travelling with friends we had the opportunity to view several rooms. The rooms are dingy, small, and dark. The bedspreads are threadbare and from the 30's. The only thing this place has going for it is the view of the temples. This same view is available from the Colleverde Park Hotel.

We left without staying the night. The manager offered a 60E a night reduction but we refused. I would rather stay in a "Cabtent" at summer camp than stay here.

“A total ripoff”

We stayed 2 nights at this extremely overpriced hotel which is right near the Greek temples in Agrigento's historical area. That is about the only good thing I can say about this hotel. The management has no interest in running a hotel or pleasing their clientele and ignores any requests or suggestions. Our dingy smoked filled room was large, but gloomy. When asked to turn the A/C on, the management insisted it was on...it was not. It was hot, stuffy, and very uncomfortable. I almost killed myself in the bathroom which had a step up to the sink in a very odd spot. The included breakfast was dreadful. Not only did they run out of food by 7:30, but they seemed to have no interest in serving their unhappy customers. I would recommend staying as far away from this hotel as possible and perhaps that will force them out of business.

“Fawlty Towers of Italy”

We mainly stayed at this hotel because of the location. After visiting Taormina (gorgeous! - stay at Hotel Condor!), Agrigento was a nasty shock so we decided not to stay in the town. We were deliberating between staying at San Leone but after seeing the size of the carpark for the temples (ie. v small) we drove past Villa Athena and decided to stay there as you could walk to the temples from there. Our room cost €150 for the night and was supposed to be **** and was v. dark and old but comfortable enough but was more like **. The villa's gardens and terrace were very nice however and the views of the Eastern temples was great - obviously you pay for these things and the location. The restaurant however was a real joke - complete with its own Basil Fawlty and accompanying Manuel. Service was terrible and a pretentious attempt at silver service. We paid €13 each for a plate of cold linguine in tomato and basil sauce - the smallest portions of pasta that I have ever seen in Italy. All in all very expensive for what you got, but it is the only hotel within walking distance to Valley of the Temples (except maybe Collaverde Park).

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We have two small children and the beds/cots were just right. We stayed on a third floor room and it was dated in decor but adequate. The restaurant is sort of 1970s but food is fine. We found the staff very helpful - the manager even found a sitter for our baby so we could put her down to sleep before dinner. The employee who watched our baby brought small gifts for both children and was just delightful. The location was wonderful - we took a nice walk up to the Temple of Concord in the morning - just enough sightseeing with two small children. It is pricey for what you get but all in all I would stay there again.

Miniscule uncomfortable room, never updated. Air conditioning didn't work. Staff had real attitude problems. Almost all of our fellow guests, including us, changed rooms at least once during the two days we stayed there!
