“No sidewalks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2014

The hotel itself is nice, it has an own prking lot, wich is also nice..
There are no sidewalks by the hotel, so you have to walk on the street, or go by car.
They have free wifi, althaugh, when we where there, they had a problem with the network.

We were traveling with a school group through Sicily. Unfortunately, our itinerary called for one night at this hotel. It seems as if the hotel caters to groups visiting the magnificent Valley of the Temples. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is 10 minutes from the temples.

The hotel appears to about as old as the temples. The lobby looks like it could be a used furniture showroom with old, worn out, un-matched chairs and sofas, and dark wood-paneled walls with pealing paint hanging from the ceilings. Each room has a TV mounted on top of a mini-fridge and 50 watt bulbs lighting what is best described as a basic dorm room with a tiny bathroom equipped with pre-war era fixtures. The hallways were also dimly-lit and a bit uncomfortable to walk through. The place was relatively clean however. I felt as if we were camping in-doors.

As if the lack of amenities wasn't bad enough, the neighborhood in which the hotel is located is actually frightening. There are no sidewalks anywhere around the hotel, and it is on a very busy and noisey road. It is nowhere near the center of Agrigento either. So if you were inclined to get a decent meal or shop in Agrigento, you would need to take a relatively long taxi ride into town. Very inconvenient to say the least.

The food served at the hotel is very simple, nothing special, and served in a large dining room. The bar is a joke. The staff was responsive however - but they didn't have much to work with.

This is bare-bones, basic lodging. It truly is a "last resort" from my perspective.

Good choice for those who aims to visit the City of Temples. It is 3 km from the entrance and within easy reach. We stayed only one night but the hotel was packed with tour groups. Central air, barely functioning, with water dripping from the ceiling from condensation. We require maintenance, but the service could only be done later. Exchange room would be impossible because the hotel was packed. To sleep avoiding the noise of dripping on the floor, we chose to place the trash with a towel inside.

We stayed here in June 2013 with high school students on an ancient history tour of Greece and Italy. Hotel is not in a great area, so avoid if you are after the picturesque or atmospheric. Rooms are large and clean, but bare of comforts; corridors are rather tatty. There is a pool; however, when we arrived - in the middle of a heat-wave - we were discouraged from using the pool because of another group, of middle-aged Italians complete with a singer, juke box and microphone - so the whole hotel was subject to crooning. Luckily, our students were just happy to use the free wi-fi in the foyer or lie on their stomachs in their beds in the large, wooden-floored rooms. Unfortunately, dinner was accompanied by the singer belting out her songs on her wierd synthesiser; the volume was impossibly loud - impossible to speak or to hear anyone speak. The singer came with the other group - which is a rather strange thing to subject ANOTHER group to, but...when in a foreign country, it's best to keep your manners. Breakfast was a reasonable affair - and thankfully came without music. Service was reasonable, although they seemed to expect our students to be annoying - which they were not - and thus the staff were not particularly friendly. Maybe they've had bad experiences in the past...? A reasonable hotel, clean and efficient, but stay somewhere else if you are wanting to experience atmosphere, or a Sicilian feel.

Room Tip: Best to ask for rooms at end of corridor that looks onto the rear carpark - otherwise you might find...

Very dated hotel with rooms that are crying out for refurbishment. Poor air conditioning system. We left after just one night sweating on rock hard beds. Great location if difficult to find - very close to temples. But area is not that pleasant so would rather have stayed in old town of Agrigento. Would not recommend.

Good sized room. Clean but old. No safe boxes. Convenient and ample parking.

No internet outside of foyer. Reception staff variable – one very helpful person, who has lived in the USA.

Location: the hotel is in an ‘odd’ street with workshops, display rooms etc. Very few dining choices. Not very interesting or enticing to walk around. But dinner at the hotel restaurant was good.

Beach area about 3 km away is tacky. Even in mid summer, numerous ‘kiosks’ closed and many parts are very run down.

Excellent location for visiting Valley of the Temples. Take the first roundabout, up the hill to carpark. More convenient place to commence tour. In summer, get there when gates open at 8.30am.

Overall, ok for very short stay to visit Valley of the Temples.

We were travelling with our adult son and had a large room for the 3 of us. Slightly run down but quite clean and comfortable. Large and clean pool, good buffet breakfast included. Plenty of parking. One annoyance was that Wifi was very expensive. There is a fair bit of traffic noise from the street. Very good fish restaurant just down the road, and local supermarket for food. When we had a problem with something in the room it was attended to quickly. Pleasant staff.
