“must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

If in Sicily and you do not go to see this place then you missed something. This is located in a valley(although it is actually in a very high ridge overlooking the city of Agrigento).

Good contrast with you around 2500 year old structures and across you can gaze at a modern 20th century city with a long modern concrete highway.

How did they move these massive stones.

Bring your water and a good hiking shoe. THERE ARE NO HAWKERS IN THE VALLEY, except around restaurants.

“Excellently kept! Feels you can re-live those moments back in time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Beautiful in all means and well preserved as well. It is situated in a cut back valley in front of the city of Agrigento. It is divided in 2 sections one as soon as you enter where you can find remains of the temples with a surrounding garden and the other where the temple of Hera and exactly below on the same path the temple of Concord which is majestically intact and well preserved. As it is also a UNESCO world heritage site it is a unique site, well kept and beautiful in all aspects!it's a must for all ancient history to visit! Easily reachable by car as it has 2 spacious car parks one below the hill and the other midway through the museum. And it is also reachable by bus either from the city centre or the train station. The information staff are very very helpful as well. Thumbs up!

“impressive ruins in a beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

These are astonishing remnants of long-ago, set along a ridge so that they stand out against the surrounding landscape and sea. I wish there were more information panels to provide detailed background, but there are some, and they are useful.

“One of Europe's major archaeological sites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Valle dei Templi is just a short bus trip away from the railway station in Agrigento (if you don't have a car). We first visited the Archaeological Museum and then we went down to the temples. This was during Sunday lunch time, which was a very fortunate time for a visit. There were no crowds and we could walk around, admiring the temples in a quiet atmosphere. Walking here was one of my "big moments", like walking around in Forum Romanum in Rome or in the Alhambra in Granada. Please don't visit this marvellous site just on a bus trip from some costal town. The evening before we had watched the temples enlightened (from the terrace of our fantastic B&B: Terrazze di Montelusa)

“A wonderful archeological site. Stroll the length of the valley at your leisure.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

If one is interested in archological sites, there is nothing to dislike. Matches or exceeds anything to be seen in Greece with the exception of the Acropolis.
