“Fantasic View, Sunsets and Sunrise were the best.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2010

This was a lovely spot and the owner was very nice. The security would be good enough for any one. Closed Circuit camera monitors, Steel Electronic gates, and shutters for all windows. and an alarm system. NO BODY is getting in who should not be there.
Large area for parking. Very remote QUIET Peaceful. If you didn't know it was there you would not find it. We had problems with Electrical power going off ALL THE TIME it was a breaker that would throw What a Hassel.. The Hot Water is Solar which is great on sunny days.. No Hot Water in the AM or if it is cloudy.. WE hardly ever had a hot shower .. I did not like that I suggested they get a water heater that gives you hot water on demand to help with the solar.. but they just shrugged.. The house had odd design. I was amazed there was a toilet next to a huge patio window that did not open fully because of the toilet.. One room the door opened and you had to shut it after you went in to go to the toilet.. if the door had opened the other way it would have been easy. silly stuff like that .. I am no Architect but I know poor design when I see it.
DO NOT STAY here in the Winter.

In AGRIGENTO, the Villa Mare di Montelusa mansion (on KAOS district) is the place we have chosen to spend our 1 week holiday in Sicily (10 persons including 4 children) - from 5th of September until 12th of September 2010.

Speaking both, town of Agrigento (about 160 km from Catania, 150 km from Palermo and about 180 km from Taormina) and the mansion (2 km next to the Valley of Temples), the location has an ideal position on the beautiful shore of the Mediterranean Sea.

The yard has two terraces of which the first one is at the same level with the access road, having a small orchard with sycamore figs, bay laurels and palm trees and a second one with a generous space that for me was the strongest point of this location. From up-here you could easily relax and enjoy the beautiful scenes of Sicily sunrise and sunset together with the unique view and voice of the sea.

There are large rooms, fashionable furnished, each of them with its own bathroom and air conditioning system and the fully equipped kitchen offers excellent conditions even for the families with small children.

We are deeply thankful to our hosts for all the attention, joy and warmth they have shown us during our wonderful stay.

Ideal for day trips and just relaxing. Beautiful outside area with great views. Sicily is most friendly and the owners of this villa are wonderful.

We went to all the sites in eastern and southern Sicily in just one day. We will be returning to this wonderful facility.

We traveled with friends to Sicily in May of this year. 3 couples spent a week at this fabulous Villa with a beautiful outdoor area overlooking the Mediterranean. The rooms were spacious with each one having their own private bath or shower. There was a well equipped kitchen with an Espresso machine a stovetop, oven and microwave as well as an outdoor grill which made cooking dinners a pleasure. The highlight of the accommodation is the outdoor area which has a 180 degree view of the ocean, a large table that could seat as many as 12 for dinner, sun chairs for lazy lounging and plenty of room for vehicles. The house is quite secure as it has its own security system and we had no problem leaving cameras computers and any valuable when we left on our excursions during the day. The location affords easy access to some of the most well know ancient ruins of Sicily. What made this stay special were the interactions that we had with our gracious hosts. They greeted us upon our arrival and had already stocked the place with fresh vegetables, wine, homemade Limoncello and a platter of dolce including cannolis. Their daughter who had only taken English for 6 months was able to communicate with us and personally showed us the local markets as well as recommendations for restaurants in the area. Her mother and father were charming and several nights brought over food that they had prepared for us to eat. The highlight of our trip was our last night when the entire family including grandchildren entertained us with a fabulous meal consisting of pasta with clams and fish baked in salt dessert, wine and homemade “liquor digestive.”We enjoyed the luxury of having a house to come to at the end of a day of travel and relax over a glass of wine with friends, watch the sunset and enjoy the beauty that is Sicily

The villa had an incredible view of 180 degrees over the ocean. We watched the ferries and the fishing boats come and go and had a view of Porto Empedocle’s salt works which was interesting. The beach lay below on the other side of the house. There were all sorts of seating areas for sunning or gathering for a drink and under the tree shading the patio was an enormous table. Eating was pleasant at all times. The villa had a farm attached in which we were encouraged to pick whatever was ripe and there was great security. The living area was spacious and the kitchen equipped. The best part of our Sicilian visit was the family that owned the house. The parents and their daughter and her family were extremely eager to make our visit wonderful. We were greeted with homemade lemoncello and olive oil, wine and two huge boxes of cannolis. The daughter, who is an architect, had taken English for only 6 months and was really able to converse. She also speaks French well. The mother, who is a professor, was eager to cook for us and our visit culminated in a huge fish oriented banquet with all of their family….pasta, octopus salad, green salad, sea bass, whole fish cooked in a salt crust, smaller fish. These people are truly charming and accommodating. They took us to the grocery and pointed out things we should buy for a specific use and told us where to buy desserts and fish, etc. Wonderful warm folks who made our visit!

My Friends and I had an unforgettable vacation at Villa Mare Montelusa. The Villa is fabulous and still genuine and offers all conforts. The rooms are clean, comfortable and cozy.

The environment is outstanding: the view from Villa is breathtaking, the pure beach faces crystalline waters. We had great fun and the opportunity to visit the ancient temples.
I will highly recommend this to all people I know; this place suites group of friends as well as couples and family.
