“A wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The woman who runs this B&B is awesome! The property transports you you to another time and allows you to experience a typical French country lifestyle living amoung the vines. While Anne's husband is producing wines under their own custom label, Anne runs the B&B and leaves nothing amiss...from proving plates and utensils for an impromptu picnic to the delicious breakfast each morning which includes fresh baked breads brought warm from the bakery each morning. Take the time to sit and watch the sun set in the beautiful setting of Chateau de Pintray, we will definitely return for their hospitality.

Also very easy access to wineries which is what brought us to this region in France. The town of amboise is charming as was the visit to Chenonceau castle

Chateau de Pintray is a charming small chateau well placed for exploration of the area around Amboise. Our hostess gave us useful tips about where to find excellent local food, and which chateaux to visit. The house was comfortable and characterful - the layout of the rooms and decor was somewhat haphazard, probably reflecting its evolution as a working vineyard and place to stay. We stayed in the ground floor room which included a separate room for our children and our own doorway out into the garden. The setting of the house is fantastic with vineyards all around, mature trees and a formal garden too. A great place to relax and I wish we had had more time to spend there.

Chateau de Pintray was a great base to stay for exploring the Chateau region. The chateau is obviously quite old and rustic, however very charming. Our room on the 2nd floor was spotlessly clean and very quiet. Anne was an excellent host, making us very welcome and offering information on the area, restaurant recommendations etc. Breakfast was lovely and the table was always set beautifully. We tasted wine and champagne grown on the estate by Jean Christophe , who was also very welcoming. The lawn area at the back is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some wines from the area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second level require taking your bags up a spiral staircase

This was the perfect place from which to tour the chateaux region. We were traveling with our 21 yr old son and booked a Family Suite on their 2nd floor. Two large rooms with beautiful views of the property and a spacious bathroom plus another separate toilet. We were warmly greeted by young Anne who speaks decent English. We enjoyed a bottle of their rose wine on the back patio. Such a lovely home. I can’t imagine the effort to keep it all up. We loved the homey atmosphere and Anne was always willing to answer questions, make reservations and provide suggestions. You do need to carry your suitcase up a spiral staircase which might be difficult for those with limitations. Breakfast was a cold selection of yogurt, cheese, croissants and jams, and fruit. Chateau de Pintray is about a 10 minute drive into Amboise for dinner, etc. The countryside setting was delightful. Walking through the vineyards and enjoying the large property was an added plus.

Travelling with a 14 month old is sometimes challenging but staying at the Pintray was a relaxing vacation for the babe and the parents. We stayed in the large ground flooor (rez-de-chaussée) room which had private access to the garden through a second small room connected to the very large bedroom. Having a separate room for the kid to sleep plus a dining table for his meals was very useful but with out the extra cost for "junior suite" that most places would charge. There are lots of outdoor spaces to explore...a small formal garden, patio for al fresco dining , a forest to wander and vineyards to roam. The location is close enough to a tourist town (Amboise) to dine, supply and visit...but in the countryside on the outskirts so quiet and solitary. We bought the local vintage, enjoyed the hospitality of the owners and unplugged from our worries in this chabby chic little country manor (with a medieval mini chapel). Worth the money, a great value and a perfect place to rest your head and feet after a hectic day of Chateaux visits.

Room Tip: Take the ground floor room if it's available. It's HUGE by any standard with a fireplace, h...

Chateau de Pintray is a cross between a farm and a small chateau, perhaps manor house would be a more correct term. The country location was blissfully quiet and the vineyards are picturesque. Restaurants in Amboise where less than a ten minute drive and the main Loire River road was only five minutes away. Ann, our hostess (speaks English well), was most helpful and even dried and folded our laundry while we were sightseeing. As others have said, breakfast was excellent and varied in choices of breads, pastries, fruits and yogurts. I appreciated the lovely eclectic table settings and all of the interesting travel/history books in the main room.
Our comfortable accommodations were a series of two sleeping rooms off of a private hall (rented as one unit), each with an ensuite toilet, sink and shower. The larger bathroom also contained a bath, and refrigerator all cleverly tucked under the eaves. We sampled (and purchased) the wine that Ann's husband, Jean-Cristophe had made and marveled at the energy of these two young and enterprising hosts. We made a very good choice with this B&B and can highly recommend it.
TIP: Ann told us to try the wine tasting cave/cooperative in nearby Montlouis-sur Loire. They have a huge selection from the local vintners, a very informative server and the location was in an actual cave. Definitely go and plan to linger if you enjoy wine, but remember to bring a baguette to help minimize the effects of your imbibing!

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it. Rooms are spacious and guests have access to a large part of the historical chateau. Grounds and vineyards provide ample outdoor space to stroll, and a welcome break from the frenetic touristy spots all around. The Chateau is within a short drive to several chateaus ( Chenonceau, Amboise, Chaumont sur la Loire as examples) and villages for shopping and eating out. Owners are charming and breakfast was ample and delicious. It was a wonderful to sit at such an impressive table setting with 12 other guests. Buy a bottle of wine from the owners, sit in the garden and watch the sun set over the vineyards...like we did!
