“Very pleasent”

Great location. Helpful staff. The food was very good at a reasonable price. Good selection of ales (doombar). Well behaved dogs welcome. Lost one start due to no wifi.

“Excellent Meal . Highly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We dropped on this without a reservation but fortunately they had availability.
The quality of the food was excellent , matched by excellent and friendly service.
It is not the cheapest restaurant in town but well worth paying that bit extra.
Would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone travelling in the St Austell area of Cornwall.

“Side splitting fab”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Visited this restuarant whilst on holiday and it was very nice indeed. This restuarant has two sides one bistro and one a la carte, unfortunately you can not mix the two menus in either side so we chose the a la carte, was not disappointed. Great looking and tasting plates of food, prawn mezze starter whiched we shared, followed by confit of duck and John Dory, spot on. Sides are included with the mains and they where quite big portions, thats why i felt like as big as a bus as the dauphanoise potatoes are sooo good. They did a childs menu in here to, so it's child friendly considering how high standard the food was. Staff very good, location fab

“Full of character and great food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Hubby and I arrived in St. Austell on a Friday afternoon and came across this hotel/pub/restaurant in the early evening. It was packed and we were told it could take up to an hour before we got a table in the restaurant but it's a quaint bar so we decided to wait it out.
S-O-O glad we did because the beer battered fish and chips were the best I've had, um, ever I think! And hubby was so impressed with his 8oz sirloin steak with a delicious char-grilled flavour, tons of fried onions, mushrooms and chips. Only problem was that the portions were so big we couldn't manage desserts! Staff very friendly too. We enjoyed it so much we went back on two more occasions during our week long stay.

“great food and friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This was the second family meal for special occasions recently, food consistently good on both occasions with everyone being happy with the food and the friendly service. First time had from the specials, fish dish very good and the duck from main menu second time equally good. Apparently the steaks were cooked very well. The restaurant appears newly upgraded and a nice place to dine. And the Hotel is in a great location right down by Charlestown harbour.
