“Try the Seafood Pancake!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

Very nice local pub where everybody that came knew each other.
Had this only a couple of hours after Charlie's and wish we'd either had Charlie's earlier or another time as really wanted to finish the pancake but way too full. It was delicious and came with fresh seafood (prawns, muscles etc.) side of chips and lettuce leaves and tested really good, like home cooking.
Reasonably priced also.

“Good food, slightly odd service system”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

We booked after viewing the website and seeing a good range of vegetarian options. We booked for 8.15pm, and arrived slightly early. We were shown to the bar area to order drinks and then asked to sit at the bar until the other 2 larger groups at the bar had been seated. We waited approximately 30 minutes for this to happen. After about 20 minutes our food order was taken with us sat at the bar, and we then had to wait there another 15 minutes or so before being shown to our seats, where we had to wait another 15 minutes. Eventually, our food arrived, well presented, really tasty, and a good sized portion, we were too full to sample the puddings, but the vegetarian curry and the Belly Pork were excellant. We would return, but I think the odd service system needs reviewing.

“Excellent Position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

Having seen several good reports on Charlestown, we went for a meal there after visiting Eden Project. It was a raw cold windy evening with rain at times which didn't help give a good impression. However, I am pleased we walked down to see the tall ships and the little harbour. On a dry afternoon it must look lovely.
We looked at the other restaurants but were pleased we chose Pier House. The bistro sitting area was attractive with nice views. We both had good meals but the menu was more limited than the Polgooth. I had a jacket potato with Cornish Crab which I enjoyed.

“Pleasant food, but slightly old fashioned atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

Tables are a bit crowded and the menu is still a traditional meat and 3 veg type, but the service is pleasant and families are welcomed and the view over Charlestown Harbour and the tall ships makes up for any minor deficiencies
