“The Highlight of Our Trip to France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Staying at this chateau in Tavers was the highlight of our trip to France. My wife and I are so glad that we found this place. Truly a treasure. The hosts are very warm and friendly and make you feel at home in their very old and very lovely chateau. A wonderful breakfast is included in the price, but for a fee dinner will also be prepared for you. We decided to give it a try and enjoyed every second and every bite of the wonderful meal prepared with local ingredients. The accommodations are very comfortable - clean large rooms and newly remodeled baths. This place is not to be missed ... even worth going out of your way. What a find!!!

One of the most romantic place in this region, and with the most hospitable Masters! House is very comfortable and stylish. Near the house you can find much space to walk. Breakfast was VERY tasty and prepared with love. I'm sure that we'll visit this place again!

The hosts of the chateau are charming and give you a very warm welcome. On arrival, we enjoyed a walk round the lovely garden, which was pleasant after a long drive. It was interesting later to see photos of how it was in its heyday.
We had booked table d'hote, which we enjoyed with the hosts and a couple from Australia. Madame is a brilliant cook, using lovely local ingredients and vegetables from the garden. Monsieur chooses wines which are perfectly matched with the flavours of the food. Breakfast was also most enjoyable.
We intend to return to this lovely place to sample the hospitality again, and explore some of the wonderful historic sites in the area.

Room Tip: The joy of this place is that it only has a few letting rooms. We were in the Napoleo suite, which i...

We stayed at the Chateau this August for several days and it was one of the best places we stayed in France - it was our 7th trip to France. We were party of 4 and stayed in 2 rooms - Cherises and suite Napoleons . Both of them were outstanding.
It is a very old mansion which was renovated with love and skills and respect to antique details of the house. You can also stroll the garden which is nice and has small brook. Everything in the house is done so tastefullly with attention to details and it makes your stay is extremely pleasing.
It is very nice feeling to be in such old mansion and be so comfortable - have modern bathrooms, large windows in a good working order, light nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable bedding, tea/coffee making pot, etc. Everything is extremely clean. Very good variety for breakfast - everything so fresh, tasty and nicely decorated: yogurts, several kinds of bread, croissants, rolls, freshly home made pastries/cakes, fruits from the their own garden, home made jams - you name it.
Also what makes this stay so pleasant - the owners of the place. They enjoy to host guests - you feel it all the time. Every contact and conversation with them left you extremely pleased - they are very "people" persons. All in all - such stays make your vacations truly enjoyable!

Room Tip: Both rooms we had for our small group were equally good and quiete

If you want a large plastic hotel with bar and chips then this is not the place for you.
You join a welcoming French family into there home.
The look after you like distinguished guests.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with antique furniture.
For dinner ( set time no option) you join the family for drinks and they have dinner with you. The wines are local and included in the price.
A fabulous experience but ensure it is what you are looking for during your holiday.
I stay in hotlels around the world and this one ranks as a favourite because of the special offering.

Fabulous, luxuriously appointed, property with many touches that deliver a very special stay experience. From the moment you turn in to the driveway and see the grand house with it's twin chateau-esque towers, you suspect it's going to be good. The garden and grounds are extensive, back onto fields, and are wll worth a stroll around.

Our room, Cerise, was simply stunning; Huge, comfortable, superbly designed and luxuriously furnished. The ensuite was equally impressive, with a very large walk in/out shower and deep roll top bath.

Our hosts made us feel extremely welcome, and we joined them and another couple for an excellent evening meal which they prepared and served in the main dining room of the house, and which was preceded by an aperitif which we took in the garden. I thoroughly recommend this table d'hotes option, but be aware that you need to advise prior to your stay that you would like to take it. Breakfast was equally good, and included a selection of home made jams, pastries, and a real variety of fresh fruit (some directly from the garden).

Staying at Chateau de Guignes certainly left us with that kind of feeling that it would be difficult for anything else on our stay to compare. Superb

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, all of which look exceptional.

Ideally situated as a mid point for our holiday drive to south of France. We booked on the recommendations on here and so glad we did. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. Our room and was excellent. Both the evening meal and breakfast were excellent. We will certainly stay again and highly recommend.
