“A true Tuscan gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

We had an absolute fabulous time at Relais il Vallone! We booked two rooms (one for us and one for the kids) which were very tastefully decorated and had a large ensuite bathroom. Around the relais you find a spacious garden with a beautiful swimming pool. The surroundings are truly breathtaking.
Claudio and his wife Michaela do whatever they can to make your stay unforgettable. They have loads of suggestions for trips and restaurants.

We will definitely come back as the owners really put their heart and soul into this!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Relais Il Vallone for two nights in July. Claudio and his wife were such amazing hosts. The farmhouse has been renovated beautifully- they renovated it themselves and they have a fantastic sense of style and attention to detail that makes Relais Il Vallone so special. Our room was impeccable and the bathroom was spacious and clean.
The pool has plenty of room and is in the most wonderful setting with forest-covered hills all around, with the stunning house just to the side.
On arrival they gave us iced tea and biscuits, and breakfast was delicious, and served in a lovely warm dining area.
The short drive makes the towns of Pienze and Montepulciano a great day trip from here- we had a great time exploring the cobbled streets of the towns and walking in the stunning surrounding countryside.
This is a secluded gem perfect for a romantic Tuscan holiday, and Claudio and his wife are lovely people. Thank you for such a perfect end to our trip to Tuscany!

it is definitely not easy to be found but worth seeking this country house on the outskirts of Sinalunga , on a hill pratically bordering with a wood where on our arrival we were welcome by a free wild bambi jumping on the fields .
The young couple managing this relais , are extremely polite and well prepared in making your stay as confortable as possible, the house in perched on a hill , with manicured gardens all aournd and a lovely pool from where enjoying the peace that this location offer .
Four rooms , in a country chic style with well sized bathrooms and genuinely well kept are offering the traveller anything you may need from such solution . You are 5 mins away from Sinalunga centertown (a Gps is really useful to find and return to the hotel anyhow )where you can find then any restauraunt or activities those are not available at Il Vallone where you can get a proper breakfast and always a smile .
Useful if you need to visit the interesting surroundings both Tuscany and Umbria of if you just want to plug off and wait for the bambies to come and greeet you . Pure tuscany gem.

The owner of the villa, Claudio, made us feel most welcome in his home. We had booked 3 rooms, and each was as beautifully decorated as each other.
Finding the villa may have been a bit tricky as it is up in the hill along a rather difficult road. However, Claudio met us in Singalunga and we followed him to the villa. He also recommended several restaurants which were all excellent. The villa pool was closed due to the time of year, but the surroundings are breathtaking. Breakfast was also very nice and we could not have asked for more. Sinalunga as a place is perfectly located for visiting Siena, and wine towns such as Montepulciano. We would recommend anyone stay here who is visiting the Siena region.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2008

My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon in Tuscany in August 2008. During our 12 day visit we stayed three different places all singled out for this special occasion. We have quite high standards so we spend a long time finding the right places to stay. The first place was the renowned Villa Di Piazzano near Cortona, second place the Relais Il Vallone near Montepulciano and finally Hotel David in Florence. All three places can be recommended, but the Relais Il Vallone was undoubtedly the best and one place you cannot miss if you ever think about going to Tuscany.

We came across the Relais Il Vallone on the intuscany.net site, but decided to contact the hotel directly to make sure our booking went through. No problems there as the owners speak fluently English. One thing we appreciated when booking was that the price was constant at 150 Euros pr. night, breakfast included, regardless of the season. For most other Tuscan hotels you will notice a huge seasonal price variance.

Relais Il Vallone is a private residence with four fantastic rooms owned and operated by Claudio Venturini and his wife. The residence is an old traditional Tuscan villa which has been superbly restored not that long ago. It is situated on top of a hill just outside Sinalunga and only 20 mins. from Montepulciano, right in the middle of Tuscany. The first thing that strikes you when you see the place is that everything looks brand new and fantastically well-kept. That goes for the house, the garden, the pool side, and for the rooms, which each have their own distinct style. We got the room called Cipressi, which was one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in – anywhere in the world. It had a large bed, satellite TV and a super large bathroom. As with everything else it looked like we were the first ever to stay there. Everything was spotlessly clean and the decoration of the room was very stylish. Claudio’s wife is from Sweden, which you can tell by the blend of Scandinavian and Italian style in the rooms. Very very nice!

The pool was just the way it should be. Well tempered, clean and actually quite big for a four room hotel. Just what you needed when the temperature reached 30 degrees celsius. Laying at the pool side surrounded by the peaceful hills made it real easy to relax and just enjoy your vacation.

As you can probably tell we really enjoyed this place and could go on and on about how nice it was. However you should really experience this yourself. One final thing to mention was the incredible hospitality and friendliness we experienced from our host Claudio. He did way more for us than could have been expected and really made our stay unforgettable.

All in all we had an unforgettable stay at the Relais Il Vallone, a place we hope to see again and which we can only give our highest recommendations.
