“ok for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way from Calais to Verdun. This is a reasonable little hotel for its 2 star rating. It’s close to the motorway network but far enough away not to be bothered by the traffic noise. The down side is that it’s a long way out of the Town Centre and it’s a good mile to the nearest restaurant. Food is served at the hotel if you don’t want to go into the town.
The manageress spoke English and made us very welcome. We asked for the double room but she upgraded us to the luxury double for the same price. Despite this the room was very small although clean. We were travelling by motorbike and there was very little room for us to put our gear. It had tea & coffee makings and a reasonable assortment of soaps/ shower gel/ shoe shine/ hair dryer in the very small en suite – strictly one person at a time only! The shower, however, was superb and very powerful. The bed was very hard but there were plenty of extra pillows. The hotel was quiet when we stayed so we didn’t hear other guests. The doors do slam shut so I supppose it could be noisy at times.
The communal areas look tired and drab, probably due to the brown paint everywhere. But it does seem clean and there were no nasty smells.
Breakfast was great and well worth the 10 euro charged per person. There was a wide assortment of breads and baked goods, jams, yogurts, cereals, fruit salad, juices, boiled eggs. Tea & coffee in plentiful supply and staff on hand to replenish everything.
Free parking is available at the rear of the hotel. We were happy to leave our motorbike there overnight. The manageress is happy to welcome bikers.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2008

We stayed at the hotel on our way from Southern France to Germany.
It is easy to find , close to the motorway and the toll point.
Clean but tiny room ; the bathroom was OK but nothing to die for!
The noise insulation was rather poor. Our room was beside the main staircase and the noise of people going up and down was rather annoying. We were also afraid that our baby son would disturb the other guests... Luckily, he slept through the night in the baby cot provided at no extra charge.
Breakfast was excellent. A lot from where to choose and three people taking care of the guests.
The staff was very friendly and helped in all possible ways.
Free parking was included in the very reasonable hotel rate.
Overall impression: OK for a night´s rest on your way somewhere else, if you are not very picky about noise. If you´re planning to visit Cambrai itself , then you may want something closer to the city centre, as this hotel has no amenities whatsoever within a walking distance.
