As part of a tour of the Monet Gardens at Giverny and the palace at Versailles we stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant & Inn named Le Moulin de Fourges. It is an old mill built in 1790 with a funtional water wheel on a beautiful stream. There are two buildings: the Inn which contains the mill and water wheel and a more modern single story dining hall separated by a large terrace with many tables and chairs. The setting is really pastoral and serene.
We had a fixed menu for lunch that included delicious breads, salmon terrine, assorted vegetables, chicken and apple desserts. The local white and red wines were of high quality. The service was fast and efficient by a staff of 4-5 people. They spoke english pretty well. I do not recall the cost of the lunch but at the time it was mentioned that it was a good value.
We did not go inside the inn so I can not describe it. The outside of the building looks like it is well taken care off. Pastel color walls and dark wood windows look very nice. Landscaping is well done with many types of flowers like red geraniums, pink roses and several types of dahlias and ivy vines covering many walls. It is definetely a beautiful place to visit and eat.
