“Smart and Manageable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

A pretty museum occupying a former residence, Bayt Al Zubair also provides an opportunity to get out of the blistering heat and cool down. The exhibits are presented well, with just about the right amount of description, certainly no information overload here. A lot of space is devoted to costume and jewellery and, of course, the traditional khanjars. Other parts of the museum are given over to everyday objects such as dishes and other cooking utensils. Outside there is a recreation of a traditional dwelling and a scale model of old Muscat town.

All in all, a nice little museum with everything tastefully displayed. Walking around is easy and won't take too long. A souvenir shop can be found near the exit.

“Very interesting with one big surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

This is an attractive museum definitely worth a visit. The surprise is in the gift shop: the fabulous award winning Omani line of Amouage perfumes are for sale there. One sniff and you'll be hooked!

“Good Museum”

A good introduction to Omani life and history. Located in old Muscat. You can spend a few hours here.

“Really interesting house and exhibit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

The best part of this place is the old house that the cafe is part of. You really get a sense of what Oman houses were like in the early 20th Century. The other buildings were not interesting architecturally but there were splendid exhibits of traditional clothes, daggers, dhows, dishes, furniture, guns, swords.

“Well displayed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Situated in a restored old house, the museum presented a highly edited view of Omani culture. The house and the exhibits were all high quality, well presented and showed a discerning eye and taste behind it's organization. Sometimes, a "snack" of a museum is far easier to absorb than a well stocked one.

Relaxing snack bar/cafe and decent gift shop.
