A pretty museum occupying a former residence, Bayt Al Zubair also provides an opportunity to get out of the blistering heat and cool down. The exhibits are presented well, with just about the right amount of description, certainly no information overload here. A lot of space is devoted to costume and jewellery and, of course, the traditional khanjars. Other parts of the museum are given over to everyday objects such as dishes and other cooking utensils. Outside there is a recreation of a traditional dwelling and a scale model of old Muscat town.
All in all, a nice little museum with everything tastefully displayed. Walking around is easy and won't take too long. A souvenir shop can be found near the exit.
