“Quite beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

It's new, huge, impressive, and quite beautiful. Outside of prayer times, the mosque is quiet and an easy visit.

“One of the main sights in Muscat and well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Quite easy to find and quiet to visit early morning ( closes at 11am ) Around the mosque there are attractive flower beds ( as there are everywhere in Muscat ) and the building is attractive and plenty of good photo opportunities. Strict dress code as usual. Well woth a visit.

“Well worth a visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We have seen the big mosque in Abu Dhabi and this one and we liked them both. As in all mosques you need to be covered in trousers or long dress, long sleeved shirt and the ladies need to wear a scarf on their head. The lady at the entrance was so kind to help us with this scarf and she showed us how arab women use it. Quite an experience. The mosque itself was beautiful.

“Very Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

I have visited lots of mosques and temples whilst travelling but this is definitely the most impressive. Make sure you have a good guide so that you can really make the most of it.

“Grand is the perfect word”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We went for Friday prayers and got there early because we were told it would be PACKED. We arrived about an hour early ~11 AM and got a great parking spot plus tons of time to walk around and take pictures. The Mosque is grand, pristine and inviting. There are several courtyards and the prayer areas are so well maintained for housing thousands people for prayer every week! Just so you know, they don't allow children (I believe under 12 years old) into the main prayer area so even if you try to sneak them in (we saw 2 moms do it) they will direct you to the area for mothers with children which was nice because we were able to really focus on the sermon.
