“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We travel a lot and are customed to luxury hotels, and the Chedi sets the standard. Especially when you look at the price you pay. When comparing to our other stays at Four Seasons or Banyan Tree resorts the Chedi is at least on par if not better as far as service levels, design and amenities go for about half the price.

Room: beautifull, nice size, not to big
Grounds: EXCELLENT, ponds and fountains, especially beautifull candle-lit / bonfires at night
Food: EXCELLENT, breakfast, dinner at the main restaurants or at the fine dining option on the coast, all very, very good.
Spa: EXCELLENT
Fitness center: EXCELLENT
Service: EXCELLENT

Just go and let yourself be pampered.

just one word: WOW!
We stayed in a Junior Suite. The room was immense, we had a seperate lounge with sofa, a large terrasse, a bedroom with view on the sea and a beautiful bathroom.
The ammenities in this room were the BEST I have ever seen: mini bar (soft and hard drinks) included and filled up daily. Wifi, Aqua di Parma products.
The turndown was also VERY good: candles everywhere very romantic!!

The service at the pool was the best we have ever experienced: fresh towels, constant refill of water with mint and lemon...

The breakfast was very good too however if I could say one thing that could be reviewed (and it is really because I am picky!!!) is the music in the breakfast room. They were playing a sort of thai music which more adequate for the spa than for breakfast!

Now let's talk about the Spa: WOW just amazing!! As soon as you step in you feel relaxed! I highly recommend having a massage there!

The gym (for the brave ones) is DEFINITELY the BEST gym I have ever seen in a hotel!

Service was FAULTLESS from arrival to departure! Marcos at reception was definitely the most welcoming person we met so far. I named him however all staff was just wonderful.

With our Junior Suite we had access to the lounge - and what can I say? Another perfection! Every night we would go there fore an aperitif we would drink some wine or prosseco with canapes it was just heaven!!!

All in all this is THE place to be in Oman - I am dreaming to go back (and I will for sure)

Room Tip: We would definitely recommend taking a room with the access to the club lounge

Just returned from two nights at the Chedi with my husband. It's a beautiful hotel with a super-chilled vibe, the decor is really laid back but luxurious, a perfect mix of modern and trad. It's low-rise and covers a big area, with lovely outdoor seating areas and fountains, rills and pools everywhere. The three swimming pools are stunning - I've never seen a 100m pool before seriously it takes 2 minutes to swim from one end to the other. There are so many wonderful decorative touches everywhere you look (even the changing rooms), and the staff are incredibly attentive but never obtrusive; everyone we encountered was charming and friendly and room service was very quick. Late check-out on our last day was not a problem. The food we had was excellent - not cheap but really delicious with generous lunch and dinner portions. We had a delux room which was really comfortable; fresh fruit, coffee, soft drinks and beers included but don't touch the spirits or other stuff in the minibar, that's all super expensive. The only thing I found a little odd about our room was having the loo and shower just off the lobby - with frosted glass doors and the lobby as basically your dressing area that's potentially a bit problematic if room service knocks when you're 'indisposed'. Those facilities really need to be tucked away a bit more, but it's a small complaint.

The hotel is not downtown, it's closer to the airport in a part of the city that is still pretty much a work in progress, but you need to drive to reach different parts of this city anyway so it makes little difference. It's quite a romantic hotel - mostly couples when we were there and I wouldn't recommend it for families as there are no child-specific facilities and two of the pools aren't open to under-16s. I sincerely hope to stay here again - loved it.

Came over for the weekend while working in Doha. Great location for getting away from it, but not great for 'doing' Muscat. Hotel is excellent stylistically, but sometimes feels a little hollow for it - for example, the restaurant looks fantastic but the service isn't particularly warm or welcoming. The pools are excellent - the long pool is fantastic - and I would stay there again for the gym alone. Concierge team (Rana) were particularly helpful in arranging a tour.

My wife and I stayed a week here and it is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The food, staff, grounds, room, pools everything was 1st class. For the divers out there we dived with Euro Divers and as a divemaster myself I can highly recommend them and the diving is excellant, but probably better to go late or early in the year as the vis is a bit low in june when we were there.

Room Tip: Doesn't matter the cheapest rooms are still great unless you want to pay more for a suite.

We stayed here for 2 nights and then another 3 nights the next week and both times we were incredibly impressed with the whole place. The grounds are beautifully presented, the pools are unique and the service could not be faulted. We were there during June (quiet period) and it was peaceful and relaxing. It was also nice to have somewhere away from the few kids staying there. The Spa is worth a visit (or two) and the restaurant is world class. We have stayed in some swanky places around the world and this is truly a standout.

We spent 6 nights here and had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
Highlights:
- the hotel is probably the most beautiful we have ever stayed in. The rooms, grounds, restaurant areas and pool areas are all incredibly tastefully designed. We paid an extra 15 rials per night on arrival for an upgraded room and it was worth it for the extra space
- the food at breakfast is delicious. There is just the right amount of choice
- the food served for lunch and dinner is equally delicious. The highlight for me was the wagu burger, delicious desserts and hand made chocolates
- free soft drinks and water in the room

Negatives:
- the service whilst perfectly acceptable is not what you expect for such a premium hotel. The check in experience could be improved, and service in general could be more attentive and personal. There is not much interaction with the hotel and some are quite laid back and not very clued up. Having said that special mention must go to Nena on the concierge desk who was brilliant!
- the hotel is not very well located so you have to take taxis everywhere. The cost does rack up
- whilst the food is delicious it comes at a price. The prices are steep by any standards
- it's not a major intrusion but the fact that the hotel is in a flight path is noticeable

In summary this is a great hotel that gets so many things right. If its service levels could be improved it would be exceptional and the steep prices would seem less of an issue
