We stayed at the Sugarapple Inn for 12 days back in January 2013. Cilla and the gang made our stay very nice. The place is very clean and well kept. The view is nice of Friendship Bay but try to get the rooms on top for a better view. They have a nice place to BBQ in the evening. They provided a local cell phone already programmed with numbers of places on the island. We had beach chairs to bring to the Friendship Bay beach which is not more than a 5 minutes walk. The room was very bright. The only thing I would suggest is to bring bug repellent because when the winds die down, the mosquitoes get out. The a/c is great but it is always better to get a nice breeze from outside. They picked us up at the port when we arrived and Franklin was there and brought us to the bank. Which we waited over one hour but he stayed with us. Cilla even organized an island tour in St-Vincent for us since we had to wait over 5 hours before our flight back to Ste-Lucia. We will be back at the Sugarapple Inn. Last thing, you might not be close to town but there is plenty of taxis and local buses that passes by all the time so you hardly ever wait.

We got back this morning after a memorable 5 day stay at the Sugarapple Inn, which far exceeded expectations.

We loved the Sugarapple from the moment we arrived much earlier than envisaged (about 9am), and were told by the very friendly and efficient Cilla at reception that we could use our room immediately. She could have sent us away until the afternoon, but as it was we had just about a full extra day there. First impressions of the room were amazing. We had a big sleeping room with a huge bed, as well as a sitting room/kitchenette with shuttered/ventilated windows on two sides.

Each of the two blocks has four apartments over two floors, and each one has the same arrangement. Very airy and light. The Sugarapple is only 5 minutes walk down to what we feel is the best beach on Bequia. It is long, with lovely fine golden sand, and hardly anyone on it. The sand slopes down gently into the sand, and there are the occasional good sized waves to add a little fun. You can walk through the adjoining high-end Bequia Beach resort and stop at the bar/restaurant there if you like. The Sugarapple supplies excellent beach chair backpacks for guests (they are already in your room rather than you having to ask for them) to take with them down to Friendship Bay beach.

The bed was comfortable. The bathroom and kitchenette were clean and everything worked. A perfectly adequate complementary buffet breakfast is available every morning up on a raised, covered area, and we found this to be very sociable....we met lots of like-minded people there. There is no restaurant as such, which is probably right for the Sugarapple. They don't have enough guests to justify it, I guess. We ate out most evenings, and cooked at home once. We didn't use the pool, which seemed quite shady in the afternoon, but it was a good size and warm. We preferred the beach.

Frequent dollar buses stop right outside the Sugarapple. The fare is EC$3 for two people into Port Elizabeth or back. We took this into the town and back during the day, but as the buses stop after about 7.15pm, it's probably best to catch a taxi back after that time, and the fare was consistently EC$20.

All the staff at the Sugarapple are friendly, warm and helpful. They even have a delicate little cat, Nellie, who will visit for a cuddle if you like.

We loved the Sugarapple Inn. It represents great value. It doesn't try to be something it is not. We will be back.

We stayed with a couple of friends for 3 days in January and wished it was for longer. Cilla was amazing, looking after our every need. There were loads of thoughtful extras provided such as deckchairs with cool bag attachment. The rooms were well furnished spacious and bright. We enjoyed the pool, used the BBQ provided and found the breakfast delightful. Well done to everyone at the sugar apple inn.

I stayed at Sugarapple Inn with my husband and two friends last April (2012). Firstly I must warn everyone - When travelling to Bequia by boat please use the Jaden Sun (fast ferry) or the Admiralty (1 hour). The Bequia Express is referred to as the Rocky Express by the locals and can be quite terrifying for anyone who does not have sea legs.

Sugarapple is a small beautifully-set inn with wonderful views and a nice relaxing environment. It is not far from Admiralty Bay (by car or taxi) and can be easily accessed as it is on a main road. There are 8 self-catering apartments, with each apartment being split into two parts - bedroom and kitchenette. The kitchenette is spacious enough to hold a dining table with chairs and a couch and the windows can be opened up to provide refreshing caribbean breeze. The bedroom is also very spacious and there is a glass door to separate both rooms. We stayed in two apartments and there was a connecting door which can be quite useful for larger groups.

The inn itself was not crowded and the pool was great for both adults and kids. After spending the days out we would normally relax by the pool on evenings with our drinks. Cilla - the manager at Sugarapple was most welcoming and made our stay even more enjoyable.

Bequia is not very big and it was easy to get to most beaches and other attractions from Sugarapple. We were there for the Heineken Regatta so we had much to do! - Mac's Pizzeria for lobster pizza is a must, Moonhole, fishing, Fort Hamilton (great view and funny story), Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, sailing from Bequia to Tobago Cays and of course spending time on the beach drinking rum and enjoying the regatta lol.

One tip - once you get to Bequia take the Jaden Sun ferry and visit Mayreau Island - once there walk to the other side of the island (about 20 mins) and you will be greeted by one of the most amazing beaches in the Grenandines. You can also see Petit Tabac, Tobago Cays, Morpion Island and Union from the highest point. And remember this is the Grenadines - a sailor's dream so prepare yourself for some huge swells.
