Our stay here was very special. We received a very warm welcome at Montserrat's small airport from Jo who could not have been more helpful. She even stopped on the way to the guest house so that we could buy groceries.
We stayed in the delightful pool-side room which was very well equipped and even included beach mats and beach towels. The communal kitchen is very well equipped and a large space is reserved in the fridge for each of the three rooms. The swimming pool is a very welcome facility with its fantastic views of Redondo and Nevis. The wifi is free.
We enjoyed meeting the other guests and even went out to dinner all together to Ziggy's where we enjoyed a great meal. We also ate at Olveston Manor which was very good and very friendly and Tina's which was very reasonably priced. On Saturday evening we had an entertaining time at Soca Cabanas.
Jo organised a tour of Plymouth which was well worth doing as we visited places that we could not see with the rental car. Otherwise the small size of the island makes getting around easy as it is almost impossible to get lost and if you do the friendly locals all go out of the way to help you.
Montserrat is not your typical Caribbean island but is definitely worth the extra effort of getting there. It is safe, pretty and thankfully, uncommercialized. If you are lucky enough to go I would highly recommend Bunkum Beach for its views, friendliness and delightful rooms.
