Stayed 1 night before catching early morning seaplane to resort. A representative from UI Inn was waiting at the arrival gate hence it is hard to miss. Though the journey is supposed to be 10mins, we waited almost an hour for the transfer as the staff said that all the hotels on the Airport island are sharing a few cabs for transfer. While waiting, we reckon that we might have already checked in if we have choosen a hotel in Male and the ferry transfer is very frequent to almost immediate.
Hotel is a bit rundown and surrounded by construction sites. It is definitely not located along the most crowded residential part where there are shops and eatery. Anyway, the hotel is very basic and looks clean. But one of the towels have lot of stains hence we only shared 1. Water is very lukewarm to cool hence taking a bath in the night in such temperature was very challenging for me. Mattress is extremely hard and pillows are thin. Minibar is empty and not working. There was 1 bottle of complimentary mineral/distilled water. Room is not soundproof and wall is definitely very thin as we can hear people talking on groundfloor as well as the loud engine of the motorcycles. The rooftop has became a storeroom for the hotel and is far from the romantic picture posted in the main webpage. Seaview almost extinct due to the growing of taller buildings nearby.
Breakfast were packed somewhere and brought to the hotel before placing on the plate hence were cold.
By the way, the staff that met us at the airport was very friendly to tell his job and then he started saying that he collects currency around the world but has not received SGT before hence before leaving, we passed a SGD5 to him as a token. We tipped the guy who carried our luggages up to level 2 when check in as well as the guy who served us breakfast (not sure if they are the same guy) in the morning. But we only recieved his warm smiles and a friendly wave after we board the taxi to the airport. So how should I rate the service?
Overall, this feel more like a homestay than a hotel. If this is still the cheapest inn on the island in my next visit, I will probably still choose it. Anyway, we just need a roof for a couple of hours and airport is definitely a no-no place to stayover. Maybe in future when the new airport is completed.
