“Rooms with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for a week. The service was good (english was understantable) and the staff was really helpful. We arrived at 9:00 am and our room was ready at 10:00 am. We would have been able to check in right away, even though the official check in- time was at 02:00 pm. We were able to leave our luggage to the reception while we were out before our room was ready, afterwords our luggage were carried to our room.

The room itself was average. It was air conditioned, but it had to be turned off during the night becouse it was too loud. The room had a small fridge, also really loud. The bathroom was clean, towels were changed daily. But when you wanted to shower, you had to leave the water running for a while to be able to have a warm shower. Quite a small room, but enough space for two people who weren't spending so much time in there anyway. The only really a nagtive thing about this room was that there were ants quite a lot. But the room had a balcony overlooking the sea which made the ants look like a tiny little thing.

Breakfast was average. If you were having breakfast early you got boiled eggs, if you had your breakfast a little bit later there weren't any eggs left. As a scandinavian I would have hoped to see some fresh vegetables.

This hotel is located in Kastel Kambelovac which is about a 30 minute bus ride away from Split center. The bus (37) goes every 20 minutes from Mon to Fri. The bus stop is not far from the hotel. The same bus goes to the airport too. There is a grocery near by the hotel with a post office and even a few ATM's.

In May 2013 we were walking down the exquisite Kastela promenade between Trogir and Split. We were ravenous; one can only drink so much at the Cafe Bars. Everyone directed us to the Ballet School restaurant. And it was impressive: beautiful setting, tasty food, pretty music... until the bill came.

Here a hamburger is redivined as a patty. You pay extra for the bread roll.
Stroganov is a saucy meat dish. You pay extra for rice.

And DON'T complain. Our waitron was condescending and rude

Room Tip: We ate at the restaurant, but stayed in Split at the affordable and lovely Apartments Marjan

The Baletna Skola Konoba is part of a hotel with the same name and overlooks the sea and Split skyline, it is made up of different rooms that have been added to the building over the years. There is also a large garden area, with shade from the sun. The view from the front of the Konoba (restaurant) and the garden is excellent as it is set in a large bay of overlooking Split and the distant islands. The menu has a large amount of dishes to choose from with lots of fish and meat and pasta as well as pizza; I had the octopus salad to start with followed by mix meat and fries. While my wife had octopus salad followed by pasta with salmon and prawns, we were both full up by the time we finished so did not get to the desert menu. But there was a wide choice as well as a full selection of wines and beers. We both thought it was value for money and will try some other dishes another day, it was nice to walk along the beach after to clear some of the calories we had taken on as everything was well cooked and the service was quick and friendly. And I nearly forgot, we were served hot bread at the start of the meal. Which was really tasty, and it was good with the octopus salad.

Room Tip: Did not stay in the hotel, but what we saw of it looked okay

Hotel is very comfortable, very nice rooms with clean nice bathroom. Nice, helpful stuff. Meals in the hotel's restaurant were very good, awesome coffee we enjoyed few times a day. The beach is just few steps from the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel.

The hotel is fairly basic, but comfortable and breakfast was more than sufficient. It is located a little way out of Split, in a village right next to a small beach.

Local eating options were really good - the restaurant right outside the hotel was huge but not in a bad way - good service and great food and always very busy with locals which we took to be a good sign!

We hired a car so I don't know how easy it would be to travel to Split / Trogir using public transport. With the car, both were easy to get to although be aware that parking is fairly expensive and Split can get very busy with cars when ferries are at the port.

We liked being able to relax in the sea after a day of sightseeing in Split and this hotel is perfect for that.

The hotel has a great location. It's very close to the sea, you just need to step outside. It's also a great base for sightseeing, located between Split and Trogir (line 37, there is a bus stop on the main road, a 10-minute walk from the hotel). The staff are friendly and helpful and do their best to accomodate your requests. Our room was spacious and clean, with a small fridge (unfortunately no hairdryer in the bathroom). The entire hotel is very clean and pleasantly decorated, some of the rooms are overlooking the sea (just a couple of them, as it's a small hotel) and there is a nice coffee bar with a terrace. We booked our stay via a travel agency and it included half-board - breakfast buffet at the hotel (with a rather limited choice) and dinner at the nearby restaurant "Baletna Skola" (you choose from three options, for me a buffet would be more convenient).

The travel agency selected this hotel as an overnight place (B+B) after ariving at Split airport for the transfer to the boat trip at Trogir. A nice, clean and cosy place. No tea/coffee make facility - but a small fridge was in the room. A relatively small hotel with a lift to the upper floors and providing a good self service breakfast. It has the beach as its 'front yard" where you can swim and/or just stroll alongside the beach. It is relatively close to the airport - but far enough from the airport and main road but not to be bothered by such noise. (Kastela Kambelovac is between Split and Split Airport) Adjacent is a good restaurant (big variety and the menu is in 4 languages, including English and good service) where you can have lunch and dinner meals. The personnel at the hotel were very efficient, friendly and helpful. And if you wish you can walk (about 30 min slow walking) to a stone castle (small in size - dated 1487) in the old town of Kastela Luksic - where I noticed an ATM and pharmacy. The hotel is not close to shops which I think are mainly close to the main road. The hotel does not provide currency exchange service. I would advise to do this at Split airport.

Room Tip: I stayed at the side facing the land (not the sea) with a view on the mountain - which was also furt...
