get here around sundown - amazing - the smells, the sounds, the sights - very very relaxing. Depending on what time of year you go you will have a different experience as well. Any time in or after the wet season obviously has lots more water (and lilies) but as the water dries up there are usually lots of birds who come in as well. There is a fairly large crocodile in there as well and it has been photographed on the dam wall so dont walk along there. there are signs advising not to do that but you usually see a fool or two. there is a shelter out the end of the road where we have been known to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine with cheese and crackers which is most enjoyable pastime. take the insect repellant if you are going after dark though.
