“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

The trip along the canyon was so much more interesting than expected. The twists of the road leaving you feeling surprised at the close edges and great views just goes on and on. At the end is the small pebble beach where it's a great to get your breath back and enjoy the calm.

“Most winding and spectacular road we found in Mallorca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Even though we visited in early January 2014 (so, very off season), this road is still very popular both with cars and bicycles. We visited in late afternoon so there were no tour buses and there was no waiting around for slow traffic but there were still many other visitors. We live near the Alps so are used to winding mountain roads. This one is a very good example, comparable to some of the amazing switchbacked roads going over the Alps (Grimselpass in Switzerland comes to mind). There are a number of impressive viewpoints that overlook the many switchbacks and beautiful limestone formations. At the end is a nice inlet with several very tiny beaches. We thought that there was a short walk to a waterfall of the Torrent de Pareis but this was not the case. There is a very interesting walk that takes you through two pedestrian tunnels (lighted) in order to get to the mouth of the Torrent. However, there was no water flowing in the Torrent and we found no waterfall, even after following the riverbed upstream for about 500m. Still, it is a beautiful canyon and worth the 10 minute walk to get there. The town was pretty much dead in early January, so if you go off season like us, bring your own food and drinks.

“spectacular canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Well worth a visit, you can get there by boat but so do several hundred others mainly at the same time for lunch, best to avoid this time if you are driving and enjoy a less frantic busy wander.
Note this is a switchback drive down if you are not a confidant driver on Spanish roads but worth the trouble.

“Canyon de la Calobra - Crazy road to a majestic Torrent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Your trip starts as the road corkscrews around itself to open up 10km of the craziest mountain road ever driven on. Constant switchbacks, cars competing with coaches and cycles for tarmac and at times almost a lunar landscape with the limestone worn away into amazing figures. The village of Sa Calobra is neat and tidy and the walk through the tunnels to the gorge easy to follow.
The view back up into the Torrent de Pareis is outstanding and the small beach pleasant but not ideal for swimming due to the steep drop off. Must be amazing to see in Winter when the Torrent is in full flow. Go see for yourself.. Visit was August 2012.

A must trip while you are on Mallorca! The trip up and then down into La Calobra is scenic at every single turn, of which there are many! Simply breathtaking, lovely seen either from the land or from the water
