“A really Spanish experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

This lovely hotel is nestled in the foothills and is off the beaten track. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was plentiful and excellent. We walked to nearby villages, ate in the local bars and returned to the hotel for some serious relaxation. Visit this hotel for a real holiday.

We spent 2 nights here while on a walking trip to the area.We had a large comfortable room with a fridge and with balcony overlooking the valley. All the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was fairly simple local fare but plentiful and delicious. It is situated in a small charming village with wonderful scenery and walking opportunities all around. A perfect getaway in the hills.

We stayed here for just over a week as part of a choir that was performing in the Festival of the Mountains. The 37 people all had different requirements and started and ended their stays at different times. There were vegetarians, pepper allergies, people in wheelchairs, couples, friends etc. All of this was catered for brilliantly. The ambiance of the hotel and its grounds was tranquil and encouraged relaxation. We were half board with meals being arranged around our rehearsals and concerts. Our room was lovely - very individual with nice touches such as the range of books available to read and the fridge. We had a large balcony with views across the pool to the mountains and very effective air conditioning. Staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel provided a great base to explore the local villages and scenery - the road approaching it is not for the faint-hearted! Food was quite adequate although there were some unusual combinations at times - for such a small place though there were good places to eat on the door step - a vegetarian restaurant and a piano bar. We would certainly return.

A wonderful family run hotel in the glorious countryside of the Alpujarras. Great food (and lots of it) good large and clean rooms, everything very clean and tidy, and the staff very friendly indeed. Plenty of books available in all languages too if you want to sit by the lovely pool and just enjoy the weather and a drink. I was there with a group of friends and we were treated very well indeed - vegetarians catered for too. Surrounding villages are beautiful and characterful - well worth wandering round on the ancient footpaths and trying the local eating and drinking places - everyone is very welcoming.

Room Tip: All rooms a suites - an inner room with a double bed and the outer room with two singles; the bathro...

We loved this hotel as soon as we entered the lobby. It was full of large plants with seats and books in and amongst them. At the top of the steps was another area full of large plants, seats and books. It all had a wonderfully old fashioned feel to it. Our room was a good size and spotlessly clean with a large balcony. The gardens and pool area were a bonus after a days walking. Buffet breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given lots of information on the walks we could do and provided with leaflets for the ones we chose, which were very helpful. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. The owner even helped us book our tickets for the Alhambra before we left.

We have stayed in this hotel many times over the last 10 or 12 years and all that can be said about it is that it cannot be faulted. The setting is, of course, magnificent, situated as it is in the midst of an incredible landscape. The general decor is very attractive and the rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. We have never used the swimming pool but plan to soon!

However, the most appealing thing about the hotel is the staff. Victor is always very welcoming and friendly, as is Iby, who works in the bar and restaurant. One year, I accidentally left my credit card at the hotel after checking out, and only discovered this when I was back down on the coast an hour and a half's drive away. The first thing Victor offered to do when I telephoned him was to drive down and return the card to me. I couldn't accept!

On top of all of this, the prices are incredibly reasonable (it does not bear thinking about what an equivalent hotel in England would want to charge you). I understand that Victor is thinking about selling the hotel. While I'm sympathetic to his predicament, I hope he doesn't succeed!

It's a beautiful area and we had come for a taster visit and to admire the almond blossom. We had chosen the wrong year, it has been very cold, but we were given a wonderfully warm welcome. We were shown past the plants, up the stairs past many paintings and along a cold corridor to our room, where the air conditioner was set to heating and there was an electric heater thoughtfully provided in the bathroom. I should mention the towels, which were nice and fluffy.
The room was large, colourfully and tastefully decorated and with a lovely view across the valley. Besides paintings and books everywhere, there were little things to delight in unexpected places, the hooks on the bathroom door were on little painted blocks of wood, and I couldn't help noticing the care taken to make the high chair attractive to its likely occupants.
Victor was very welcoming, as, indeed, was everyone we met, we couldn't have had kinder or more considerate hosts. This attention rose well above the call of duty when we awoke to a carpet of unexpected snow. We were reassured that we could stay as long as we needed to, and Victor spent a lot of time checking weather reports, and when the sunshine melted enough snow on the village road to make us think we could leave they took care to ring the garage on the top road to check that the snow plough had been. It had, so in a final act of kindness the snow on the car was cleared and we were able to leave, wishing only that we had booked ourselves in for a longer stay.
I forgot to mention the bed, extraordinarily comfortable, where we felt as snug as bugs in a rug!
