“Holiday and Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

My new husband and I spent 2 weeks at Reefview Apartments, the Penthouse Suite. Nick and Karoll couldn't have been more helpful and the apartment had everything we needed and, if there was anything extra we needed, they were very quick and willing to provide it. Their knowledge of the island and advice on places to go ensured that we had a wonderful holiday and mixed with the locals. This is what we were hoping for when choosing the self-catering option.

The location is good. Close to a beach and buses into St John are frequent and cheap. There are several nice beaches and restaurants en route so a car is not necessary unless you want to tour the whole island.

The icing on the cake, though, was the way in which Karoll planned our wedding. She selected a fabulous venue, Jacqui O's, drove us to Government House to register and arranged all the necessary appointments like hairdressers etc. It made for a very smooth run up to the wedding.
So if you're thinking of getting married in Antigua we can highly recommend doing it this way.

We'd definitely stay there again.

My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to spend 2 great weeks at the Reef View Apts. Our trip started with a pick up at the airport/ A Tasty Rum drink upon our arrival at their fabulous Apts. These two people, Karoll and Nick are so generous with their time and the most outgoing hosts ever. They both know this island well and can give you many extra over the top tips to make Antigua the trip of a lifetime.

Karoll took us to English Harbor for the fishing fest-great time, as well as the Harriet Hashers (where beer and hiking come together)-what a hoot. Great time with great people. The property has beautiful flowers, a friendly parrot and of course Maui. Antigua is a beautiful Island and Nick & Karoll made our stay special.

The apts are fully equipped and have such a great Karoll beach flair . We are hoping to see the Reef View apts, and Nick & Karoll again soon. Thanks for the memories!!!!!

My boyfriend and I spend last Christmas in Antigua, we stayed in Reef View Apartments.

Karoll and Nick are very welcoming and thoughtful hosts: they always helped us to find good places to eat, to swim and to visit to experience real Antigua. And they made us feel very welcomed and at home, and always were there when we needed their help and advise.

The Christmas were spend in Antigua was one of the most memorable Christmases for us: Karoll and Nick cooked a wonderful dinner, we played fun games, and had a great time.

I would highly recommend to go on a snorkeling trip with Nick and Karoll: they took us to the best snorkeling spots: the ones with beautiful schools of fish, lots of turtles and sting rays. They provided very good refreshments while on the trip.

The apartment we stayed in was very well decorated, comfortable and with the great views - we had our own little paradise.

When we will come back to Antigua, we are definately staying with Karoll and Nick!

This small apartment complex is at the other end of Antigua from the big Sandals resort. It is therefore closer to English harbor and some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The beach right down the road from the apartments is okay for walking but you will need to drive or take the bus to the beautiful sand beaches but they are close by. In June we had some of the most amazing beaches to ourselves. We had the upstairs apartment and it was very nice with a porch and a good kitchen. The breezes from the close beach helped to keep things cool at night during June. Karoll and Nick are also wonderful and friendly hosts who have lived on the island for many years and are very knowledgable. We paid the extra for Karoll to pick us up at the airport and it was worth it as was the first night supper and the wonderful barbecue Nick made. My only suggestion: Make sure whether any of the things offered such as Rum Punches are free or cost so you will not be surprised at the bill when you check out.

For 2 years in a row now, we’ve hired Captain Nick to take us out snorkeling. He is fantastic and knows the just right places to snorkel. He caters to the group’s level of ability and requests. I loved that Nick picked spots that no one else was at so we had the ocean (LOL) all to ourselves and were not bumping into each other. The snorkeling was awesome. He is very good at guiding, spotting and pointing out all the exotic fish, rays etc. and keep a very good eye on the group. He will even dive down and take pictures for those too chicken to do themselves (yes, that would be me). I highly recommend him and would gladly use him every time I’m lucky enough to be in Antigua. I apologize for taking so long to post this review and will post a few pictures shortly.

This was our fourth time staying at Reefview, and everything we said in previous reviews still holds true. Karol & Nick's thoughtfulness and helpfulness never cease to amaze us. Nick organised a deep sea fishing trip for Robert which he thoroughly enjoyed while I, Fran, had a first class manicure and pedicure , arranged by Karol,on my own balcony for a very reasonable sum - a luxury you would not get at home. The rest of the time was spent lazing on the beach and on our balcony, chatting, and generally doing very little - reading and a bit of photography and the occasional walk. We had a car and travelled to some interesting places and lovely restaurants recommended by Karol. She also did all the arranging of a helicopter flight over the volcano on Montserrat which was wonderful. It is great to have someone to do the booking of trips - saves a lot of hassle.
Looking forward to next year already!

The family and I spent 6 nights at Reefview before heading to Montserrat for a few days. Karole and Nick were great hosts and very informative giving us constant hints on where to go, what to do and where to eat. They also took care of arranging a car, looking in to tours, and offering to set us up with various services. (taxi, tours, cruises, snorkeling guides, etc)

The property is in very good shape and seemed to be in a constant state of upgrading and beautifing....vs repairing and fixing that may be seen at other places. The grounds were garden like and their pets were big hits with our kids. We stayed in the Garden View appartment and it was a great size for a family of 4 (kids 7yo and 12yo). They did have AC and laundry machine available for a fee. We only would have liked AC during the late afternoons, evenings were fine without it given the breeze coming across property.

While there is a beach about 100 yards away, it is a natural beach and nice for snorkeling but not the best for swimming. For a swimming beach you have many excellent options within a close drive or taxi/bus ride. The property itself is in an excellent location to easily get to many of the beaches and sights we wanted to visit.

For shopping, there is a good size grocery store (Epicurian) about 15 minutes away at Jolly Harbor. You can also frequent quite a few restarants without having to go more than 15 minutes away. We particularly loved Heneritta's. It's a small pastry shop just down the street from Reefview run by a sweet older woman and her sister. We stopped there almost daily picking up rot's, meat pies, coconut pies, bread pudding, currant rolls, etc. To quote my wife upon taking a bit of a currant roll "it's the most incredible pastry I have every had" and my wife is Portuguese so it's a huge compliment (big sweets culture). She also does meals on request for pick up which we did as well. Excellent food at and very good price.

The only issue we had was that we left our snorkeling gear on the deck to dry out and one of our masks came up missing on the second day at Reefview. Based on what sounded like hushed chastizing by Carole with our neighbors that that I overheard from our bedroom, I suspect they were the ones that took the mask since it miraculously reappeared on the afternoon before we were to leave. It showed up under the fins that we had moved every day multiple times as we went out for the day to snorkel. They were also the only other guests on the property. Should I have left the gear out to dry...probably not, but given the serene gated environment I let my guard down.

Room Tip: Next time we will try to secure the Penthouse Apartment. It was the same as the Garden View but on t...
