“Nice atmosphere for a drink, but the food is pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

The bar area is quite small with a heavy emphasis on the dining area. Which is a shame because the general ambience there lends itself better to a relaxed bar area with open fire - perfect for groups to sit around over a pint or two.

The prices are a little high with the standard of food ok, but not exceptional. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful but a couple are a little stand-offish - or at least this is how they come across.

There is a very large car park and a nice decked outside area in the summer.

“Lovely lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Went to the Bell Inn for lunch on 5/1/2013. Very nice atmosphere, the restaurant was full, the service was very good, not rushed like in a lot of pub restaurants. I had the fish pie and to my amazement there was a good amount of fish in there, very nice. Will be back for another visit very soon.

“I really want to like this place......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

.....but I can't put my finger on what it is I don't like.

I've been here twice (for geographical convenience). It's a lovely pub, in a lovely setting. The food is OK, but nothing to write home about. The service is perfunctory. I don't know if they think that it's professional, but it comes across as unfriendly and aloof (and I'm not so shallow as to be referring to just one member of staff). The place really lacks warmth in more ways than one. Don't go in the conservatory in winter........it's freezing.

Sorry to whinge, but the toilets are in desperate need of attention too.

“Fabulous Evening at The Bell Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We went to the Bell Inn last Saturday and our experience was delightful! The food was of a high standard even though we all chose differen items from the menu. The fish was freshly battered and crisply fried as were the chips, The tuna salad was refreshing and the burger cooked just as requested. Service was attentive but not obtrusive . We shall definitely be returning in the near future.

“Very nice lunch and good unhurried service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I have eaten here on a number of occasions, but only once at lunchtime and have always enjoyed it. Found others complaints about poor service and luke warm food totally unfounded. This is not a mitchelin star quality pub, but it has a lovely ambience, is always busy and serves good food.
