“Very nice food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

Went with my husband for a meal on a Tuesday night, we had previously been here in April 2013 with a large group of friends and were disappointed with our experience - incorrect orders and service abit lacking, however they now seem to have turned things around.
The food was very good and served piping hot.
The pub was fairly quiet (as you would expect for a Tuesday in Jan.) and we got good service.
Our dog was also welcome (in the bar area).
From what we hear new owners took over the pub at the beginning of 2013, I guess they needed some time to find there feet.
They have a nice garden area and we will definitely be returning in the summer.

“Kawasaki Triples Rally Weekend 6th 7th 8th September 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

We stayed in one of the lodges B&B for 3 nights, great value, very comfortable with a decent shower.

Breakfast was first rate so was all the evening meals and the Saturday evening Bar B Q accompanied by a cracking live band was a an added treat.

Our hosts Jonathan & Alison were superb & couldn't do enough for us I highly recommend a visit here either to stay over or just visit for a drink and a meal.

We have booked the lodge again for next years 2014 Kawasaki Triple Rally cant wait!

“A good value meal in pleasant surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Four of us went for our daughter's birthday. We have been many times before when they lived just down the road but this time it was a thirty mile trip to an old destination but we weren't disappointed. Good choice of ales in the pleasant bar and a good menu in the restaurant which was quite full. The only criticism is that the tables are quite snugly arranged and there was a family of 7 in for a meal (good) but badly behaved a noisy children (bad) but hardly the pub's fault. Luckily they left before our starters came. The food was excellent and the steak was one of the best I have had. The chips were almost too hot to eat and of the family cut style rather than "fries". We had a good wine for £14 and the bill for four including the a couple of rounds in the bar came to £114 for three courses and coffee. Good call - we'll be going back.

“Excellent country inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

We stayed at the inn for a long weekend, huge thanks to the landlady and her fabulous staff for making this a fantastically enjoyable weekend, they could not do enough for us in all matters. The food is delicious, huge breakfast and if you have to snack the cheese nacho's are just fantastic. We stayed in the rooms at the back of the gardens which are very spacious are super clean and quiet, you also get a nice patio with tables and chairs so you can sit out on your own if you wish. No complaints at all and will be very happy to return, have already booked for next year.
