“Another enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Having stayed here previously we chose once again to celebrate our anniversary at the Mollington Banastre. Despite a little confusion on booking, as we had a buyagift.com voucher (which cannot be treated as loyalty scheme voucher, as this is purchased usually at a premium) we were booked in for chester races weekend in August. On arrival we were thrilled to find that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to the bridal suite, very spacious, HUGE bed, great room. The hotel management also gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and card in our room, thank you :) much appreciated.
As part of our package we had spa treatments booked, exactly on time, lovely therapists and very relaxing. Pool, jacuzzi and steam room were great as usual.
Our three course evening meal was of a good standard, very polite servers and generally good service. Only criticism would be that the resident pianist could perhaps gauge his audience better (not all under 50's appreciate Glen Miller and broadway musicals - the odd modern tune would have gone down well).
Breakfast was of the usual good standard expected from a 4 star hotel, hot tasty and plenty of options.
Check out was quick and easy and the receptionist was very helpful and polite.
Thanks for another great stay

Room Tip: This was our 6th visit, we have stayed in various rooms - if you can afford an upgrade to the bridal...

We spent a number of comfortable nights at the Brook Mollington during our tour of England and Ireland and were most impressed by the room facilities, gym, restaurant and staff service. In particular, we must thank Fintan, the general manager, for his time and assistance in helping us with hotel accommodation in Ireland.

Being Aussies, our only negative comment relates to the room not being air conditioned and we picked the hottest summer in years to visit.

Arrived late after a day in Cheshire oaks. Had requested an upgrade as it was out anniversary but had to make do with 2 soft strawberry tart type things with 'happy anniversary' written on the plate which would have been lovely if the rest of the hotel wasn't so disappointing.

Waited over 25 mins to check in as only one person on reception and she was on the phone.

Walked to room 40 on 1st floor. On the way (ground floor still) the carpet just reeked of beer which wasn't pleasant.

On the way upstairs could see the hotel was definitely in need of re-painting as doors were scuffed and scraped.

Room was boiling hot, stuffy and very worn and dated.

Kettle lid was disgusting, bathroom sink blocked, No Toiletries....never ever experienced a hotel with no shampoo, conditioner etc, especially one that proclaims to be part of a Spa!!

Hair dryer took me back to the 80's as it was a tiny little brown thing that you had to keep your finger on to make it work.....

All in all the only thing going for this hotel is the location as it is about 5 mins drive from Chester.

I was so disappointed and when I told the lady at reception this upon check out, she just smiled and said they 'welcome feedback' ....obviously welcome is all they do as reading previous reviews they aren't acting on feedback or even taking any on board!

I sadly booked this hotel on the 20th through Hotels.com before reading the reviews and was unable to cancel after the 21st without losing all my money, which seemed bizarre but they obviously knew then what I
know now!

We have just had a wedding reception for our daughters wedding at the Mollington and were very pleased with all aspects of the occasion, the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful, the wedding breakfast was very good and many guests commented on the quality of the food, the wedding co-ordinator Cheryl did an exceptional job from the first meeting to the big day itself, she was very professional, while being warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, and helped and guided us through all the planning. The lawn at the rear of the Hotel provided a great location for the wedding photos and we would highly recommend the Mollington Banastre to anyone who is looking for a venue for their wedding reception, we also stayed overnight and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed, breakfast next morning was also very good .

My wife and I visited this restaurant as it features on the hi-life dining club but really wished we hadn't.

This is a four star hotel so I expected more from the restaurant. The setting and service were pleasant enough but the quality of the food was poor. The restaurant is definitely not suitable for a fine dining/romantic meal though as it is more of a family oriented setting.

For a starter I ordered the baked camembert which was the size of a wagon wheel with a few crispbreads as dips. The quality was fine but the balance of the dish was completely bizarre. For a main course we both ordered Sirloin steaks to be served medium rare and mine was actually a rump steak served well done, very tough and my wife's was also given a rump steak. Bizarrely they also gave us a huge dish of pepper sauce that we did not order, I suspect this might have been to cover up the fact that the steaks were not very good and the wrong cut.

To be fair the server offered replacements when I complained and overall the service was good, but we both walked away very disappointed and the food did not live up to the rather expensive bill.

I Booked the hotel for a large group on a girls weekend. From moment I made reservation, the staff were extremely friendly, chatty and professional. Received confirmation of our booking quickly, and when I needed to make amendments to booking, it was dealt with quickly and easy.
Receptionist on arrival was very down to earth and pleasant, explaining taxi numbers, cost of taxis etc. (£5 to town)
The room was a little tired, but the bathroom was clean and modern. Our group were all located together in the hotel which was great. Even the chambermaids were pleasant, and provided fresh towels and extra tea/ biscuits for our room. Nothing was too much trouble. breakfast was pre-paid, and there was plenty of choice. I felt there was too few staff on breakfast service, with our group waiting quite while for speciality coffees.
Overall I would recommend this hotel, good out of town location, free parking, quick taxi ride to town, close to motorways. our group loved the pool, excellent gym facilities and overall we thought it was good value.

Stayed for 2 nights on 30/31st August. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and our room was very comfortable with everything you'd need. We didn't take an evening meal in the restaurant so cannot comment on this, but breakfast was fine - everything you'd expect.
The hotel was very quiet during our stay but that suited us fine as all we wanted was a peaceful weekend break 'away from it all' and in that regard this hotel is perfect. There is also a very pleasant spa and the hotel is in a great location for visiting Chester and North Wales.
If you are being 'picky' you might say that the hotel generally (i.e. the lounge / corridors etc) could do with freshening up by re-decorating but that's a minor issue.
All in all a very pleasant weekend in nice surroundings.
