“A perfect Christmas stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Rockliffe Hall was truly fabulous from the welcome to departure. The room was exceptional with a TV in the bathroom and a mince pie and carrot for Santa on Christmas Eve. The Christmas lunch was an amazing feast and the staff could not be faulted on anything. Can't wait to book up for next year!

Room Tip: The Laird suite was fabulous-on two floors and very comfortable!

What a beautiful hotel... We have just enjoyed a relaxing overnight stay at this fab place and I am now totally addicted...You certainly get the 5 star treatment here.. We stayed in a junior suite, spacious and comfortable.. The communal areas are beautifully furnished, the staff are very professional and friendly.. The food is devine... The spa is first class... I cannot wait to return...

Room Tip: Junior suites have easy access to the Spa and Brasserie.....

Two night, three day Christmas break. Very impressive facilities, relaxed atmosphere. The entire staff were welcoming and local. Appeared to genuinely want to serve which is a rare quality. Service was not as clinical or precise as most 5 star hotels, with some errors with food orders on more than one occasion during our stay, and being kind, I would describe service as of a leisurely pace. But, in context, this was a family Christmas break and the rather informal service worked well. Would hope a different approach to front of house dining service had this been a business or more formal event.
Rooms are very spacious and well equipped. Spa and gym both first class. Grounds beautiful for morning stroll. A few organised events were hosted well. Great family friendly quiz after lunch.
I would recommend the hotel for a Christmas break. A big hit with all the family from teenager to grandparents. Wish we'd taken advantage of the extra night offer, but was too late as all rooms taken preventing an impulse extension. It is worth stating that even though the hotel was full, it felt spacious and quiet - lots of separate lounges for relaxing and with three good size restaurants, still had the impression of being quite and semi-exclusive. (Even at peak times never more than half dozen people in large swimming pool and spa area).

We went for a family get together just before Christmas and enjoyed afternoon tea. Surroundings and decor are excellent. Welcome at the door was pleasant. The afternoon tea was really impressive and everyone was content. Lady playing piano in the entrance lobby outside the Orangery was a real classy touch and added to the ambience. Service was a little abrupt and poorly informed, maybe because it was very busy

My wife and I have just returned home from the most perfect weekend at Rockliffe... Our stay was made with some relaxing and pampering in mind after a long hard stressful year and WOW we were not disappointed...
From our arrival to departure everything was PERFECT and the attention to detail is first class..
We dined in both the Brasserie and Orangery and would recommend both but the latter being a totally unique experience, in both, service and food was exceptional.. The spa experience is special and so friendly and relaxing, our hot oil massages were amazing, sorted my dodgy calf out.. We stayed in a junior suite and it was lovely, settees and bed were so so comfortable and snug, loved the television at the end of the bath...

An amazing romantic wedding anniversary. The Hotel itself was beautiful, the staff were very helpful and the room immaculate. The Spa was very relaxing but the highlight was the restaurant. We had the tasting menu in the orangery and it was delicious. And breakfast the next morning was just as good. Highly recommended!

We had our wedding here and it was the most perfect day we could have hoped for in the best hotel in England.

We stayed on for a second night and despite being full we were still able to keep the same suite we had on our wedding night.

Can't wait to go back. Most of our friends and family also stayed on the wedding night and could not fault it.
