“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Stayed her a few times, standard is always excellent. All the staff are attentive & friendly without intruding or making you feel uncomfortable.
We stayed in one of the maple rooms on the ground floor with a small terrace, two chairs & a table. The rooms are always large, well furnished & comfortable. The bathroom is large with seperate shower & bath. The toilet is seperate, handy when your other half is in the shower & you need the toilet! Everywhere is spotlessly clean.
The spa is fabulous,I've had a few treatments here & they've always been excellent. One of the latest was the Glorious skin facial which left my skin very soft & glowing.Use of the pool, hydro pool, sauna etc is open all day but can get busy at times but all the facilities are well maintained.
The service if you are playing golf is good too. They even wash your clubs before & after your game.
If you want a posh meal they have a michellin starred restaurant but if that's not to your taste the clubhouse does meals like fish & chips, all excellent quality.
I think this is the best hotel I've stayed in in England & it's a pity I don't get to stay more often.

I couldnt praise this place highly enough, from the moment we arrived and escorted into reception I knew I wouldnt want to leave. The hotel is luxurious in every way, yet it manages to avoid the stuffiness and snobbery you would expect from such a grand hotel. Our room was a Junior suite in the new hall and was huge, very comfy bed, tv in the bathroom, nice toiletress everything you could want to honest - even fresh milk in the fridge. The spa was also fab we just wandered down in our robes and sat round for a couple of hours reading the papers and magazines. We ate in the Clubhouse - dont be fooled into thinking this is just a sports bar its not the food is lovely and we were given given a lift down and back in the merc. We also had dinner in the brassiere, cocktails in the bar and breakfast in the orangery and couldnt find fault in anything.

Lovely place, can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I think they are all lovely but try and go for one in either new or old hall saves going outside to...

We went for a 3 day break for my birthday and the service from the moment we pulled up to the front door was second to none. The room was spacious and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. We dined in the brassiere the first 2 nights and were well looked after by everyone especially Charlotte and assistant restaurant manager Tony. On the final night we ate in the Orangery and the food and service was absolutely first class. We had one round of golf and the staff in the shop and clubhouse were also extremely professional. the course to was in fantastic condition . I really couldn't fault our stay and really find anyone who can find fault in this place either unlucky or for some reason just moaning for the sake of it. . Our only criticism would be that we put in 2 articles for dry cleaning and one of the jackets came back ruined. It had shrunk dreadfully and although the hotel phoned us on our return home they passed the contact details on to us to sort out. It would have been nice if they had taken it on themselves to enquire about the problem and maybe before we had left. Still a first class establishment where they certainly put the customer first... I booked afternoon tea for a belated Mothering Sunday gift and was thrilled that my sister could join us, she is recovering from cancer. The staff were helpful and understanding, without being overly attentive. The food was excellent.

Booked for our anniversary for one night on the midweek overnight special which included upgrade to an Old Hall room, use of the spa, 3 course meal in the Orangerie restaurant and breakfast. The hotel contacted us after we booked to say there was a champagne dinner that night but for £30 each extra we could join or eat in the Brasserie. The room was superb - full suite, exquisitely furnished - 3 TV's including one in the bathroom. Spa was also superb and we had a very relaxing afternoon dipping in and out of the various heat treatment rooms, the hydro massage pool and swimming. The dinner to our surprise was hosted by the house champagne company and we were seated at a table of 10 people who we had not met before, obviously not what we had in mind for our wedding anniversary but we had a surprisingly good evening with who turned out to be a bunch of great people. Food portions weren't large but were tasty - don't expect to leave feeling over full. Breakfast was lovely too. The midweek offer, I thought, offered good value in luxurious surroundings - would go back tomorrow in a flash.

This was the 3rd visit for myself and three friends - it still has very high standards, staff are wonderful polite and friendly. I had a facial it was amazing. The food was lovely but all of us felt there wasn't much selection.

My only grouch would be that the robes are hugr I am 5ft and a size 10 so asked for a small robe as the last time I was swamped. They brought the smallest they had which was still way to big for me.

This spa is fantastic. Kept to a high standard. Very luxurious and relaxing. 5 hot and cold rooms to experience, a large pool, and a large hydro pool. Staff v friendly and helpful. Gym well equipped. Lunch in the brasserie was lovely. I had a hot rocks massage in the afternoon which was excellent. I'd definitely visit again.
