We are two middle aged men who travel to photograph wildlife. We stayed at the Hotel La Valliere for 2 nights in July and didn't expect an amazing experience but we didn't expect Ants, around 1 to every 2 feet of floorspace, water leaking out of the bottom of the sink when in use and from the shower tray also, No Curtains, the beds were very soft and not good if you have a bad back. The restaurant was rather basic but nice and the waitress was very nice although when asked for a menu were told this was set and was starter - Cold Peppers in oil followed by main - Pork Stuffed Vegatables, desert - Blueberry Tart with a small scoop of Ice Cream (which I enjoyed). When I asked the price considering this was the only menu available the waitress had to check and came back with €18. I though this was quite expensive for what we had and felt the food had been pre-prepared.
All in all a rather low grade experience possibly because we were 2 men who weren't dressed smartly as we had been in the mountains photographing all day (although this should not make a difference in my opinion).
I can only comment on my experience but would stay somewhere else perhaps in Guilaumes next time. It is worth the extra travel time if you are visiting the Col des Champs.
