This gem of a Woodland café is nestled away from the main house down a track. It would be good to have some lighting from the car park, especially in the winter months. The menu was of a good standard and freshly prepared. It was not fast food so time was needed for the preparation. This was evident in the taste and presentation of the food. My husband said the food was of a higher standard than the Abbey not fair away. Staff did mention that the menu is likely to change for the winter months. Worth a visit to see how different this will be! The atmosphere was friendly and unhurried. We did feel it was more of an adult venue. However there is a menu for children, and some toys in a basket. There was one highchair. I understand, from staff, that it is hoped a special event will take place, for children, around Christmas. There is future plans for a meadow, just outside the café. Clearly the patio doors will be opened up for the outside to come in! There will be two areas for children of differing age ranges. One of our guests was a young lady with special needs. The staff showed her respect and the set up was easy for her to move around without tables and chairs having to be moved. There is a room in the building to hire for private parties which I am sure will be popular especially in the summer months. I certainly will be making a visit to this café again and would have no problem recommending it to family and friends. We have found somewhere different, pleasant and enjoyable. I very much hope the standards we found will continue as the café becomes known and a favourite with other families. In the past we have visited the house and grounds. On this visit there was a wedding and therefore we only stayed in the café area.
It was a lovely afternoon and such a surprise to find such a gem in the woods!
