“Cap It All”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

We had excellent help from BA's David K in planning a one week family holiday and actually got more for our money in the Carribean than some of the spots we had been looking at in the Med. We were looking to cover everybodies needs; a great beach, sea views and somewhere close by for a couple of rounds of golf. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and hired a car. This was probably a good decision for us because the hotel is rather secluded. The hotel restaurant is in a beautiful spot, we enjoyed our breakfasts there everyday overlooking the sea and the sevice was excellent. The restaurant was probably a bit too 'fine dining' in the evening for the boys so we enjoyed the hotel's Naked Fishernam restaurant on the beach (very good quality, completely relaxed and flexible to trade when the boys didn't fancy the razor clams but only available 3 nights a week) and otherwise went out and about at night to Rodney Bay. Overall the beach was almost perfect; sandy, easy to get in and out of the sea, kayaks, paddle boards, hobbycat all freely available and felt private, even if it wasn't. No hawkers. Could have done with a couple more umbrellas, otherwise ideal. My husband and I had our room upgraded on arrival. The boys had a garden room but spent more time in our suite which was nice because we certainly had the space. The hotel grounds were very well kept and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a good rate at the nearby golf course (pick up included). We chartered a yatch for the day through the hotel (not the hotel's speed boat) and had a brilliant day (the trip included tickets to the mud baths, volcano and Botanical Gardens in Soufriere and the taxi). We had been told the best way to see the island was from the sea - it was great advice. Perfect for a one week vacation. Everybody happy.

Thank you very much for choosing Cap Maison for your family holiday and it was nice to hear that we managed to provide a little more space for you all to spread out

The Naked Fisherman is a great little spot and we plan to extend dinner opening times from three nights to five nights a week from November this year

Thank you for recommending Cap Maison St Lucia

Kind Regards

Ross

We recently stayed here on part of our island hopping trip through the Caribbean...

Postives:
Our room was amazing after seeing pictures and requesting a specific room we were treated to a room which had a full kitchen, lounge area, large on-suite bathroom and a awesome roof top terrace with private swimming pool, hammock and sun loungers.

The Naked Fisherman Beach bar is the best thing about Cap Maison, the staff that cook are amazing and the food that is presented to you shows this exact quality. The atmosphere is festive and relaxed, exactly what you would expect on a beach holiday in the Caribbean.

The beach is public but is situated down 90 steps from Cap Maison so not many locals venture down. There are sun loungers and water sports and it is very peaceful and relaxing down there.

Staff members that made our stay enjoyable and memorable need a special mention. To Vanilla, Kimbo, Pernel and all the chefs at the Naked Fisherman, To Dunston and Deshay that run the water sporting activities you guys are amazing! Thank you to Allison, Chris and Imran at The Cliff restaurant. Kristal at reservations who made every effort to ensure we had all our requests met and finally Jasmine the duty manager was friendly and helpful.

Negatives:
As we were on the all inclusive package we were limited to only ordering wine by the glass. This wouldn't have been a problem if the wines were of a standard which you would expect at a 4/5 star hotel/resort There was only one half decent red wine on the menu. Having travelled to many places and come from a country that has decent wine for reasonable prices this was very disappointing as Cap Maison pride themselves on their wine selection however we felt time this was not the case with wines by the glass. The wine choice down at the beach bar was even worse so we were limited to only drinking cocktails which can become a little boring after 7 days.
ALL INCLUSIVE IS A BIG NO IF YOUR A WINE DRINKER!!

The other very unfortunate thing about Cap Maison is that the beach bar is only open Sunday to Wednesday from 10:00 - 16:00. From Thursday to Saturday it is open in the evenings as well. We would have much preferred spending our evenings watching the sunset and having dinner down on the beach where the food was delicious and the staff amazing. Limiting guests to only one restaurant in the evening 4 nights of the week should be changed. Also all water sports and beach loungers are packed up each day at 16:00. If the beach bar and water sports are not able to be open every night then they should at least let guest enjoy these facilities until the sun sets each day!!!

The Cliff Restaurant was relaxed at breakfast times however at night it turns into a more fine dining experience so a dress code is required. As we were on a island hopping adventure this came as a surprise to us and unfortunately put a damper on things as we did not pack any closed shoes or smart clothes.

In the bedroom the mattress was old and needed replacing as one side had a large hole in it when you lay on the bed.

We did not realize the rooms you stay in are not owned by the hotel but by private investors.FYI.

My husband and I just returned from our 5 year anniversary trip/babymoon to Cap Maison. I researched this hotel before we arrived and we were very much looking forward to this stay. I was aware of some issues with the hotel before we arrived after seeing some pictures posted on Tripadvisor.
Pros: Absolutely beautiful hotel and grounds. We could tell that a lot of love is put into the upkeep of the grounds and the actual hotel itself. The master gardener was out everyday and we had the opportunity to talk to him and he put so much thought and care into the landscape and it really showed. The grounds are swept everyday and staff is always around to make sure everything is looking its best.

The staff at Cap Maison is amazing. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels and it is rare to find such caring, attentive, and simply genuine staff. They remembered our favorite seats at the restaurant, our favorite drinks and our usual breakfast orders. It made you feel very special. Vanessa made us special juices everyday and Maggie took time to talk to us and greet us with a smile each morning. You could tell the staff is treated nicely here and that says so much. It makes your stay worthwhile. Conceriege staff only wanted to make our dreams come true and went above and beyond to make our excurisions fun and fit to our needs.

Location: The location of Cap Maison is close to Rodney Bay, where all of the restaurants are, but off the beaten path, so that it is quiet and secluded, which was great for the romantic vibe we wanted to feel.

The size of this hotel was perfect. We never knew there were other guests there and felt like we had a private villa all to ourselves. Many times it was just us at the pool, and that was perfect.

The beach is small, which was great, as all of the beach on St. Lucia are public. This beach felt private and there were always lounge chairs and towels readily available. We really enjoyed having lunch at The Naked Fisherman and the staff here were also super attentive.

Cons:

Spa: Needs a facelift. Nothing to rave about, but we did have good massages.

The rooms! This was a big one for me, as I love a comfortable and luxurious room. We booked our trip through Amex and asked for the least expensive room. We did this because the website said for the most part, each room is wonderful and you can't go wrong. I also figured I would ask for an upgrade, as most of the reviews said to do this and they were accomodated. When we arrived, we were given a garden room with a separate sitting room. The size was wonderful, and for a garden room, the view was actually pretty decent. The location of our room was perfect too, overlooking a small pool that we went to everyday. However, when we walked into our room the smell of mold and mildew was pretty evident, and later a smell of urine was constantly lingering in the sitting room. There was a drainage problem in the shower, so the water would just sit and never go down the entire time we were there and our air would randomly shut off and wouldn't go back on. The room itself was dark and musty, and the bathroom had absolutely no ventilation. We told them when we got there of the smell, and they told us that there were guests before us that didn't complain. This wasn't the best response for me, but okay. The duty manager took my husband to see another room, which was a basic garden room. He came back and said that we should just live with the smell, as she told him we were given a upgrade to begin with and this was the best we would get. The room she showed him was tiny and she basically said this was the best we would get. The only reason I had a problem with this was because were told my numerous employees that the hotel was not at capacity. For a week stay, I felt like we should've been accomodated better. I think that if you stay there, you have to be pretty specific of what kind of room you want and location.

Our room also got pretty loud as our the main windows to the room were to the walkway where other rooms were, so we could hear everything. The glass was pretty thing and shutters didn't close completely. This also caused us to have little privacy, since the only windows to the actual room opened to the public walkway.
In all, we loved it here and would go back with a more specific idea of what room we want. However, I think there shouldn't be so much variance in room style and type. I heard people rave about their rooms and it only made me wonder what the difference was.

I am writing such a detailed review because I know how much people, including myself, depend on TripAdvisor. I hope this is helpful for someone!

Room Tip: ocean view, maybe close to the restaurant

This intimate boutique property is situated on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean. It is comprised of beautiful Spanish influenced architecture with Spanish tiles and brick cove ceilings. The suites are British Colonial in feel and many include a living/dining area, full kitchen, extra half bath and laundry facilities. My bathroom deserved its own description with natural stone tile work, 2 separate vanities, a large walk-in shower with amazing rain head, and a jetted tub. The ample-sized terrace is perfect for cocktails at sunset or breakfast al fresco. All of the space and amenities in the suite make it ideal for families or a luxurious couple's retreat. The lush verdant landscaping interspersed by courtyards with pools, a gazebo overlooking the ocean, and stone stairs leading down to a deck- topped jetty resting over the ocean make this resort an ideal romantic destination. The main infinity edged pool as well as multilevel, open air restaurant overlooking beautiful blue water and rock islands add to the ambiance as well. The beach is a small cove perfect for watersports and snorkeling and also holds the Naked Fisherman beachside bar and grill ideal for casual fare and a Piton beer. Speaking of food, the cuisine as well as the wines were all exceptional. I had the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted as well as some incredible conch ceviche, seared scallops, braised short ribs, and passion fruit sorbet. If you are looking for a smaller boutique property with a British feel within a stunning setting topped off by warm and friendly service, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: There is a large variance in rooms, views, and amenities

My girlfriend and I stayed at Cap Maison for a week in late May 2014. Beautiful sea view room, with a relaxing balcony that overlooked the cliff top sunsets. Such a wonderful location!
The finer details were catered for too, with attentive housekeeping and turndown service, insect repellent in the bathroom (which we used and got no bites) and just a general chilled out atmosphere. The hotel seemed relatively full at breakfast, though during the day few people were about which made for no struggles getting sunbeds etc. and if the beautiful pool wasn't enough, the cove (complete with Naked Fisherman restaurant) was just a couple of minutes walk away with complimentary sea kayaking, snorkelling too. Absolutely brilliant!
Breakfasts were great too, with your local fruit healthy alternative as well as copious amounts of bacon, sausage etc. And all of this to a backdrop of the ocean and Pigeon Island.
So to sum it up, all in all a wonderful experience. Only downsides to watch out for - make sure that if you eat at The Cliff at Cap you don't do it when there's a wedding on as the whole experience becomes de-personalised and I thought the burger at The Naked Fisherman was small and rather average for the price paid. But these were just small things...

Here with my husband and 2 teen girls. We had A/C problem in one room and some unusual situation in our room that was resolved and Management and Jasmine really did more than what we were expecting. They gave us an upgraded room that is truly beautiful and will be a joy to stay in the next 5 nights. We had a dinner at the Naked Fisherman day one that was chef prepared by Scott - my girls and the whole family was thrilled with the flavor and presentation. Jasmine was our greeter and also combing the resort doing PR. Second night dinner in the Cliff, tapas style also amazing. The upgrade has made my trip fabulous. Thank you Cap Maison and whole staff for working to make our trip so memorable. Oh and the attention at the pool is also five star.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Nothing should be badly located.

What an amazing resort! Absolutely breathtaking. The view from the pool and main restaurant were even better than the pictures. We loved the food and service at the Naked Fisherman down at the resorts private beach.
Getting breakfast in your room each day was fantastic, there was so much selection!
Would definitely stay here again when we are back in St Lucia.
