“Warm and peaceful retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We have just spent a night at Nut Tree Farm and had a delightful stay. Ann and Melvyn are warm and welcoming and the accomodation and food were superb, accompanied by a number of interesting local anecdotes from our host! The nearby village has some excellent pubs/restaurants where we were very well hosted, fed and watered and the location in general is ideal for exploring this part of the world.

Hello Richard,

Many thanks to you and your friends for staying here at Nut Tree Farm and for your appreciation of what we offer. We always strive to offer the best breakfast. You are most kind. We are really lucky to have such a good selection of pubs and restaurants. 'Wedmore - A Centre of Food Excellence' are the words I have coined.

with kind regards, Melvyn

Have stayed 3 times at this wonderful bed and breakfast close to Glastonbury. Beds are large and comfortable, breakfasts are excellent with a lot of choice and the wonderful use of wood throughout the building creates a calming atmosphere. I always sleep very well here. The bathroom for our suite even had a bidet - what luxury!

Melvyn and Anne could not be more helpful throughout your stay, and accommodated easily my non dairy request and guests are welcome to visit the stone circle in the garden.

On my last visit, my husband did a wood turning course with Melvyn which he found inspiring!

It was so good to have you stay again Mo. Thank you so much for the compliments about Nut Tree Farm. We selected the beds for their firmness, yet with a soft comfortable surface, for the double/twin suites. Easy on the body!

As always lots of breakfast choices. Elm beams + the elm boards I laid in the tradition of Somerset to replace the original floors. I am so pleased Ray enjoyed the woodturning course, it was a pleasure to have him here this time too.

With kind regards, Melvyn

Melvyn & Ann are just the nicest hosts imaginable, the rooms really lovely and comfortable and the breakfasts fantastic. I'm gluten and dairy free and they catered for me with aplomb. My partner and I were going to a wedding locally and I'm so glad we found this place, he's a gardener and so loved the wild and rambling garden too. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

Hi Simon,

It was great having you all here at Nut Tree Farm. Thanks for the breakfast compliment. We try to accommodate just about any special diet requirement, as we have our own needs too. We have, as you know, one of the most extensive breakfast menus. Glad you liked the accommodation and our semi-wild 2 acres too. We are lucky to have guests like you.

With kind regards, Melvyn

We stayed in the B&B for a friend's wedding in Wedmore, the owner went out of his way to drive us to the village church. They also stayed up late (past 12) to let us all in and take our breakfast order, which was kind. An interesting place to stay, with lots of the family's art and sculptures on display (some for sale). It was a really authentic west country experience. Owners seemed concerned about it being perceived as too spiritual with its healing circle and vibe - but actually just seemed chilled out and liberal - perfect city get away. Great breakfast - lovely rooms.

Dear Laura,

Very many thanks for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to have you stay. We do try where possible to accommodate all needs, so thank you for your appreciation. Thank you too for mentioning the art, breakfast and the suites. We work hard to make the breakfast memorable with variety and quality.

Also we ask if guests would 'like' to order the night before, because of the huge choices on our menu – this saves time in the morning, avoiding delays for folk who maybe in a hurry. But on the other hand if anyone doesn’t want to do that, it is perfectly fine. It just might mean a delay in the morning with some foods on the menu taking a long time to cook. We always attempt to put our guest's needs first.

With regard to the spiritual side of things, it was really the way 'Three in the Bed' tried to portray what we do. We have a universal view of spirituality and healing, and don't impose it upon anyone. It's there if wanted. Living with in an ancient sacred site, means for a peaceful and relaxing stay regardless of philosophy. We have small stone and wood circles, which most folk find interesting, as is the pattern on the landscape when viewed on Google Earth of giant interlocking circles, though no original stones are left standing.

Almost universal is the comment guests make about having a really good night’s sleep and how tranquil it feels being here. There is definitely an ‘otherworldly’ feeling about Nut Tree Farm and our two acres. We love it too!!

With kind regards, Melvyn

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

Have stayed twice at Nut Tree Farm now, in January and February 2012, both times to watch the amazing murmurations of starlings down on the Somerset Levels.
The bed was large and very comfortable and the bathroom spacious and well appointed with solar heated water and electric back up.
Fresh milk for the welcome tray and good selection of drinks and biscuits.

We needed to be out beyond dusk and up before dawn to catch the starlings roosting and then rising.
Melvyn and Anne were extremely accommodating: setting a table for us in the lounge of an evening at which we made our picnic supper (they did the washing up too) and arranging breakfast for our return from the levels in the morning.
We are vegetarian and the breakfast was tailor made, tasty and substantial.

Nut Tree Farm is about 15 minutes drive from the car park serving the bird reserves so recommended for birdwatching.
Green Woodpecker in the back garden too....

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We try to accommodate folk’s individual needs and wants whenever we can. It wasn’t any trouble to provide breakfast later, on this occasion, to fit in with your wish to go watch the starling formations on the levels.

We are so pleased you found the vegetarian breakfast to be so good. We try to please and provide for all diets, whether it be vegetarian, vegan and traditional English (and we happily source produce for special diets. I think we have pretty well always succeeded.

And we are glad you liked the super king beds… solar water heating. I think we may have been the first to introduce it to a B & B (we may still be the only one in the Uk with a full on system of 130 tubes!). Yes it does have electric back up just in case. Also it is supported in inclement weather conditions with hot water supplied from our woodburning cooker. So electricity is rarely if ever needed.

Once again, so many thanks, Melvyn.

Dear Bevee,

I am so sorry I haven't responded to your wonderful review. It was many many months before we even knew you had written the review! Then we were well into the season and no time to figure out how to respond. Indeed, we didn't know we could for ages!! It was a pleasure to have you stay with us, and we do remember.

We so much appreciate your comments about everything, especially the comments about our breakfast. We do go the extra mile, several miles actually to source the best local produce. The King John sausages are Gold Award winning, and the Sandridge Farm genuine oak smoked back bacon - and the green back, and the molasses sweet cured are great too, to order. And we have a full vegetarian/vegan menu too.

All our suites upstairs have oiled elm floors, so everyone has that treat. That was a labour of love.
Many thanks for your appreciation. Melvyn
