My parents live in Marske, so we have visited the Ship Inn and eaten there in the past without any major incident. I'm not sure if it is now under new management, but I've never had such a fiasco of a Sunday Dinner experience.
Me and my husband took my parents for Sunday Dinner and ordered 3 x Beef Dinner and 1 x Turkey. It took a whole hour before our meals arrived. When they did, my husband's and dad's beef dinners looked more like children's portions.
Mine and my mother's were missing half the vegetables, roast potatoes and stuffing. We complained and sent back the 2 x incomplete dinners. They came back 10 minutes later still with missing ingredients and colder. We complained again - one and a half hours later, we still had not received a full dinner, in fact my mother's plate had less on it then when she had received it, the second time around - we joked that the kitchen staff must be eating bits off it every time it went back.
Nearly two hours later, we gave up having received the dinners back for a third time, even colder, with congealed gravy and still no roast potatoes. We got our money back and ended up going up to the village square where the Pantry Cafe very kindly stayed open a little later than usual to feed us. My husband had a second dinner as he was still hungry after the child like portion he had been given at the Ship Inn.
I've never had such a ridiculous experience. You would have thought after the dinners had been sent back for a second time, the kitchen would have taken more care to deliver a full dinner, but they were either totally incompetent or just didn't care.
