“Picturesque and worth the day trip from Rome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Be sure to take at least one day for visiting this spot, and combine with a tour of Orvieto.

Very few Americans make the effort, so you will feel like you've made an exclusive discovery.

“a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We were very lucky to have an afternoon in this unusual walled town. It is not like most and definitely worth the visit.

“Well worth the climb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

This is a hill town between Viterbo and Orvieto. It is reached by going through the town of Bagnoregio to a car park and then via a foot bridge to the village. The village is completely original, it has a number of restaurants (see my review for Antico Forno), a church, lots of great views across the surrounding countryside and a small museum that shows visitors how the town came to stand as it does (admission 3€ adults and 2€ pensioners and children) There are lots of cats and I believe 1 dog although I didn't have a sighting of it.

There is no way to the village other than the foot bridge, although I understand they use a small tractor and trailer for deliveries.

Make the fort and go its is superb

“Magical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

This town is breathtaking and enchanting. Fabulously quiet, feels remote and each corner and inlet has fabulous architecture, beautiful florals and vines, handsome doorways, spectacular views with an occasional cat walking around which makes it seem even more fairy tale. Do not miss it - do walk the short distance to see a magical setting. There are sweet places to sit and eat ~ see it, feel it, breathe the atmosphere ~ allow time to relax and enjoy.

“Look for Safina the Donkey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

This town is worth walking over the long bridge and up the hill (no cars allowed). Look for Safina the donkey before crossing the bridge.
