We visited the Millbrook Inn on Sunday, for lunch with friends, having been there before and enjoyed the fayre.
This time was not so enjoyable. The Sunday menu was rather bizzare, with starters and main courses difficult to separate out and a confusing selection of dishes.
Our friends opted for the lamb with Mediterranean vegetables and wished they hadn't. The food was thrown at the plate, rather than arranged but, worst of all, the meat was very tough and tasteless. We had the fresh fish, which was better, although the plaice was tiny. The hake was also passable but nothing to write home about!
We were so disappointed as we have been to this pub before and had brilliant food.
The staff were friendly and service was good. Our complaint was quietly made so as not to upset our friends, who didn't want to make a fuss. Even so, we were still charged the full price.
If we go to this pub again, it won't be for a long time and it won't be on a Sunday.

Thank you for your review - I think we knew it was coming though!

We had lunch later on Sunday at The Millbrook as well and had heard of your experience. I have to say I entirely sympathise! I thought the lamb was dreadful as well. It was an experiment that went wrong I am afraid - but in our defense I can say that it is a rarity thank goodness.
The staff are not really authorised to cancel charges but they are very much authorised to give a free drink, pudding, cheese etc and on this occasion they should have done so.
All I can do is apologise and hope that you will return so that we CAN give you that free pudding. If you do, could you please make a point of telling the staff to let me know?
