“Re-discover authentic Italian hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I discovered Case Catalano in 2010 while on a cross country drive with my friend that took us from South to North Italy...
We were expecting something different but were amazed by the story of Case Catalano and Ida & Carmine... The place has been in their family for hundreds of years and as they neared retirement, they started working on the renovation which took them 8 years.
They turned what was then ruins into gems by looking at every possible detail starting from the finishing to the bedding and linens!
The place was so special that I came back 2 years after with my girlfriend and proposed to her... She too fell in love with the place, the region and of course with Ida & Carmine genuine warmth that we decided to get married there.
This place is now part of our lives for ever!!!
If you want to go off the beaten path and discover a different kind of tourism, look no further.
Abruzzo and Case Catalano have a lot to offer, the Adriatic sea is a 25 minute drive, plenty of trails for walking and hiking, a majestic scenery, good food and authentic hospitality.
We highly recommend Case Catalano!

I first discovered Case Catalano five or six years ago. I was traveling through Italy with a friend and we shot into the countryside to get away from the city and get a feel for the real Italy. We were greeted by hosts Carmine and Ida the owners who had single handedly restored these beautiful stone dwellings in rural Abruzzo. They were charming and extremely helpful in pointing us in all the right directions. We spent 3 awesome days exploring Abruzzo, the Maiella National Park and fantastic villages. We love Abruzzo because of this trip and Case Catalano, my friend returned last year to marry the girl of his dreams and chose Case Catalano as the place to propose to her the year before!
The cottages are stunning! While rustic they are restored beautifully, meticulously and without one detail overlooked. From the meticulous wiring, to fabulous linens, to fastidious window treatments, original art and modern bathrooms the Case Catalano is absolutely fantastic! On one trip I brought my nephews there for four days, it was an amazing trip. Ida and Carmine met us when we arrived and had packed a beautiful lunch of local cheeses, meats and fruits. We spent our days touring, hiking, exploring nearby towns, following porchetta trucks from village to village and going to the beach in Pescara-only 30 minutes away!
If you really want to experience the real Italy and have a vacation like no other this is where you want to be!

Room Tip: No one cottage is better than the other, if you like to sleep late choose one of the lower level one...
