“Top Notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

I can only echo what the other reviews have said - it's a great place to stay and you won't be disappointed.
It's important to remember, I think, that a B & B is someone's home - so distinctly different to a hotel. What it means is that it becomes your home for the stay too, and this is exactly the attitude that Kathryn and Peter bring to their lovely B&B.
The welcome was warm and you immediately felt comfy and relaxed - the room was spotless and well appointed - lovely bathroom too, with proper sized shower gel and shampoo - none of this tiny hotel bottle nonsense!!!
Bed was really comfy, linens lovely too. Kath brought us tea and hot chocolate just after we arrived - perfect after a long drive and she was really helpful with local knowledge and a recommendation of somewhere to eat. As it happens we had booked at one of her favourites already which did not disappoint!!
Breakfast was lovely - a great choice to pre select from the night before, all freshly cooked for you the next morning. Faultless to be honest - you just knew nothing would be too much trouble for Kath, and thats pretty special. Would we go back ? You bet we would. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book early as I imagine, given the reviews, that it's very popular in high season.

We were given a fantastic welcome even though we arrived very late. Breakfast started at 7.30am, we were leaving at 6.30am, Kath was happy to cook us a full breakfast at that early time. The beds, quilts and pillows were the comfiest we have ever slept in!
Thank you for a lovely stay, it was very short but oh so sweet. We would recommend this place to everyone. Heads above the 3 places we stayed in during our trip around Wales.

We found this great B&B last year, and had to return when we visited England and Wales this year. We were greeted at the door with a sincerely warm "Welcome Home"! How nice is that? We happily got the same room, which looks to the street, but is rarely noisy. As we extended our visit to Caerleon for two days, Kath was quick to recommend some great places to visit, like St. Fagans and Cardiff Castle. Breakfast was awesome, and we were happy to hear that the B&B had received the Green Dragon Environmental Standard. Well done! We also believe that they deserve 5-stars rating, but due to minor technical reasons are held to a maximum of 4-stars.

Wow, this is probably the best B and B we've ever stayed in!

Service was fantastic, the 2 owners Kathryn and Peter were so friendly!

The rooms were lovely, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was a delight, and you can pre-order the night before so as to ensure you're not disappointed!

Would return in a heartbeat if we ever went back to Newport!

The email confirmation promised a warm Welsh welcome and the hosts definitely delivered on that. Kath and Pete were so happy and chatty. We stayed in the Victorian room and found it just luxurious. Breakfast was delicious, good wi-fi, handy to all places of interest, parking arrangement with nearby business, top rating on tripadvisor is evidently well deserved. Caerleon is such a lovely village and definitely worth a visit. And Pendragon is the place to stay.

Just back from a family wedding in south Wales, where we were lucky enough to stay at the historic Pendragon House B&B. We usually stay somewhere like the Holiday Inn or Hilton, but these were fully booked due to the rugby international at Cardiff, and a friend recommended Pendragon. Fortunately the owners, Kath and Pete, had just had a cancellation. What a find! The en-suite rooms are absolutely luxurious, cosy and spotlessly clean, with plenty of thick towels, Egyptian cotton sheets and luxurious trimmings, and the bathrooms are ultra-modern, spacious and absolutely spotless. The furniture is expensive and eclectic - we even had an unusual antique Chinese cabinet! Kath and Pete couldn't have made us more welcome, and the breakfast (made to order in the cosy dining room) is simply AMAZING. Our teenage sons thought Pendragon was terrific and even gave Kath a big hug when we left! After staying at the truly lovely Pendragon, I would choose it over even the most expensive hotels in the region and we will definitely be going back regularly. Recommended for all - from couples looking for a romantic break, to families with kids of any age, and to those on business who need a home-away-from-home.Lovely pubs within walking distance - try the Goldcroft Inn (food is terrific, if you can fit any in after Kath's big breakfast!).
