“Perfect Rajapruek Peace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

The Rajapruek Resort hotel sits on a 7 kilometre soft, silver sand beach fringed by lofty coconut Palms. The sea, clean, turquoise and deep cerulean blue reaches to the horizon's gift of the islands of the Ang Thong National Marine Park. Being on the West Coast of this tropical paradise of Samui the sunsets are spectacular.

This is a family run hotel and its personal attention to detail shows constantly in their quiet enthusiasm for each guest's enjoyment.

It is our family's third visit, this time for over two weeks. This time we stayed in a Beach bungalow, literally our front door was 4 metres from the high tide line. Three of us shared this lovely cottage and slept soundly lulled by the gentle sussuration of waves on the sand. Rajapruek sleep is many times more refreshing than at home in Belgium.

The Rajapruek's Restaurant offers a large selection of European and Thai dishes. Be sure to ask for any fish specials. The grilled barracuda is succulent and delicious. Usually one only finds this level of cooking and presentation in the five star restaurants with their attendant bank shattering bills. We do eat "out" and Samui offers a wealth of fine dining, but getting down to it - well the Rajapruek's Sea Breeze restaurant is difficult to beat.

If watersport is your thing then the hotel offers the use of their Hobie Catamaran and sea kayaks. Lifejackets are required fashion and these are provided by the Rajapruek. We are into diving and this is all perfectly arranged by the excellent Reception staff from pick up to return collection.
If you would like to try scuba diving and it is your first time you will find one of the family is PADI certified and she can guide you into safe and capable hands. It opens up a whole new range of things to do.

The Rajapruek is perfect for honeymoon couples with their own secluded bungalow on the beach. Weddings are also arranged and handled by the hotel. If you would like to get married in style, on the beach with jungle encrusted mountains as a background and the beauty of the sea for those memorable photos just leave ALL the work to the hotel and enjoy the wedding.
Back here in the grim dark drear of a Belgian 6 month winter our memories of the Rajapruek keep us warm as the computer counts down the 207 days until the Easter holidays when we can return to real civilisation and lovely people.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

I stayed here with my partner for four nights in August 2011.

The resort is positioned on the South West corner of Samui looking towards the national marine park. A self-contained compound, the hotel comprises a main building with en suite rooms, reception and restaurant, large pool, beach, sun lounger area with small pool and bungalows by the beach.

The location is remote and very secluded in comparison to the northern areas of the island. If you are looking for a good value quiet location away from nightlife and hawkers, this is the place to stay. Hotel amenities are basic but good quality, the staff are extremely helpful and interested in answering queries.

We stayed in room 214 overlooking the large pool. The room was very clean and includes a safe, TV, fridge and daily drinking water, bathroom/wet room with shower and western toilet. The rooms are tiled and furnished with teak-style large beds as is the Thai hotel style. The air conditioner is great and cools the room down within about three minutes of turning it on.

The beach area is small and quite private and not overlooked by any other resorts. Because this area is not very developed for tourists there were very few beach sellers and none that were annoying. The sand is white and clean and the water warm (although, beware the washed up jellyfish common to all the island coastline).

We ate in the restaurant several times for lunch and dinner and for breakfast each day. Food is reasonable quality and price, although much more expensive than street food obviously. Breakfast is a buffet service with hot eggs and bacon available to order.

The hotel is a family business and the staff are really kind. We asked for help with taxi transfers, change, directions, laundry and kayaks. We were consistently treated warmly and professionally which really enhanced our stay. This is not a corporate or chain location and there were occasional mix ups with food orders, but nothing serious. Strangely, the quirky things made the experience all the better.

There was a power failure one evening for about half an hour during a storm. This is common lots of parts of the island. Larger hotels have generators, but really this doesn't present a problem.

Just outside of the hotel to the left is Nikki Beach, a luxury chain resort and beach club. This is an amazingly well appointed place and has a definite 'wow' factor. We visited for dinner and cocktails on a quiet evening and really enjoyed it. It is very expensive (3,700THB for dinner and drinks) but probably worth a one off visit. It's worth knowing that there is an ATM just inside the entrance.

To the right of Rajapruek is a small shop house selling beer, homemade biscuits etc. Just beyond that is a street cafe serving typical Thai food that is really cheap. If you fancy a change from the hotel food you should be adventurous and visit. We paid 250THB for three dishes and beer!

Overall, this is an excellent choice for those looking for tropical seclusion on a moderate budget. For luxury stay elsewhere, but for a warm welcome and a relaxing couple of days this is a good choice.

Room Tip: Visit Nikki Beach next door for a great evening out (and an ATM!)

We stayed here on this side of koh samui to attend a friends wedding. The pools were lovely. The hotel was quite quiet so we pretty much had a pool to our selves. The staff are polite and helpful. The rooms, however, were a bit if a disappointment. They were clean enough but smelt very musty. The doors were in need of repair. Some friends staying in the same hotel said they couldn't even lock their door! The hotel was fine for a short stay as we spent little time at the hotel, but at the price we we paid i would have been disappointed if I had planned a longer relaxing holiday. It was nothing to write home about.

My wife and I stayed here for a part of our honeymoon in August, 2010. We had a nice time at the resort. The resort, the beach and the surrounding area was nice and quiet. The restaurant served nice food and the wait staff was very friendly. There was a gentleman that worked there, possibly the manager, who was very friendly and always stopped by our table to have a few friendly words with us. The only downside to our stay was the air conditioner seemed to almost work too good. It would get real cold, real fast. It wasn't anything we couldn't deal with, but we had to adjust it a few times in the night. If you stay here or in the area, definitely take a ride to Nathon. We got a real local vibe when we walked around there in the evening. All and all we had a good time there and we would return.

The Rajapruek Resort is a family run, great value hotel set in lovely gardens on a beautiful sheltered beach. It faces westward so gains an extra hour or so of daylight with the added gift of stunning sunsets over the islands of the Ang Thong Marine Park.

I thought perhaps a second visit to the Rajapruek might be a difficult act to follow the first but it was even better. The management and staff just can't do enough to make your day or night enjoyable.
The nights before the Rajapruek I was staying at the Pattaya Hilton and how I wished the Hilton could come up to the level of the Rajapruek.
Samui's "night entertainment" is frankly limited and heavily concentrated on the Opposite East Coast. It is only 40 minutes by car from the Rajapruek to the neon lights and the go-go bars. Most nights we ate at the Rajapruek Restaurant.
Diving was heavily on the schedule and the Rajapruek took care of all the bookings perfectly.
If you are looking for a super family hotel or a getaway for lovers (the Rajapruek has a wonderful Honeymoon Bungalow ON the beach with its own deck, sunbeds etc. Two great sized pools and a well stocked library are a bonus.
The beach is soft golden sand for miles and is level then slopes very gently so is excellent for kids and non-swimmers.
Try it out you WILL love it and go back for more. Oh and it's close to the best golf course.

I was the bride mentioned in the previous reviewer's comments. I completely concur with his comments about the resort from the perspective of a guest at Rajapruek. Throughout our stay, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly; the resort comfortable, clean, and relaxing.

From the perspective of a bride, if you want a beautiful, economical, stress-free wedding, then Rajapruek is the way to go. I shopped around for the best prices and found Rajapruek's to be, by far, the best value. Wanlaya and her assistant, Varalee, corresponded with us via email for 8 months to coordinate our wedding, offering us a variety of choices from the food to the archway to the centerpieces to the bar menu. Everything was organized perfectly and accommodated around our wishes. The decorations were beautiful (the flowers - oh the flowers were amazing), the food was delicious, the staff were exceptional, and everything played out smoothly with no mishaps. All I can say is a big THANK YOU Rajapruek!

We (me, the wife and 2 kids) originally booked at the Rajapruek for 6 nights to attend a friend’s wedding being held at the Rajapruek. We ended up being in Koh Samui while massive unseasonal rains caused the worst flooding seen in over a decade. Flights and ferries off the island were cancelled for three days so we ended up staying 10 days as we could not get off the island. Prior to the flooding all staff and amenities can easily be described as pleasant and friendly. The beach is great and fairly secluded, and the sea kayaks provided much entertainment. The pools are enjoyable, no matter if your preference is lounging, exercising, or general goofing around. Breakfast was always pleasant. I was not involved with the wedding other than to watch it, but it turned out to be awesome and our friends really enjoyed the experience.

During the flooding and while travel off the island was impossible, the staff were great and helped many residents sort out new travel reservations. Beach staff at the resort were amazing at working hard to keep the beach clean before, during, and after the storm.

I definitely would not hesitate staying there again or recommending it to friends with like interests. As other reviews have mentioned, there is not much within walking distance of the hotel and very little night life. However, scooters are cheap and easy to rent and the island is easy to figure out. Taxis are fairly quick also, a quick ride to Chaweng for a night on the town is fairly simple.
