“a wonderful touch of Africa in Derbyshire, Stella's Kitchen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

After hearing stories of a great night out in Derbyshire, last Friday night my family and friends visited Stella’s Kitchen in the village of Eyam, Derbyshire. There were 7 of us but Stella will accommodate any numbers up to 10 at the moment.
Stella’s kitchen is on the farm run by herself and her husband Patrick, it lies about ½ a mile out of the centre of Eyam village but the postcode takes your SATNAV right to her front door. There is plenty of good parking. As we walked up the short path to her front door we saw Stella’s beaming smile shining out at us, she flung the door open and greeted us with just the most warmest and sincere welcome humanly possible. Accompanying by an unbelievable loud laugh, “Hello Everybody” she shouts and in we go, quite literally into her farmhouse kitchen. It is as warm as toast fuelled by a big wood burning stove. Instantly Stella starts to give us glasses of her special non alcoholic punch which is delightful and there is as much of it as you can drink. You are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks with you. The food we had was a really good variety of African styled dishes, to many to remember or name, we had a vegetarian with us who Stella also catered for. It was all delightful and plenty of it, much more than we could have eaten. Throughout the evening Stella was the perfect host, spending time with us chatting and laughing as well as preparing the next dish for us right in front of our eyes. We were sat around one big table right in the bay windowed area of her kitchen, the atmosphere very magical. In between looking after our party Stella was popping in and out of her conservatory room just off the kitchen where she had some other guests and we could hear her chatting and away to these people also. It was very obvious they too were having a great night. The cost was twenty-five pounds per head which was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food presented to us. Of course taking your own drinks with you makes this a bargain evening out and one not to be missed. 10 / 10 for everything. We were not rushed at all arriving at Stella’s around 7pm and left just after 10pm
Truly Stella, her food, her company and hospitality are the best in Derbyshire

“Great Homecooking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Visited Stella's kitchen one Friday night in November. Enjoyed a great selection of foods and tropical punch! Would particularly recommend the goat curry, it was delicious! The amount of food on offer also meant that you wouldn't go hungry. Would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Stella's Kitchen is a brilliant, unique food experience - and a must try for locals and visitors alike. You'll get to eat beautiful, unique food, and Stella is a wonderful host and great fun. The setting is truly unique. I can normally remember the names of the dishes we ate, but they had such unusual names I am struggling. However, it included a fish dish (fish cooked perfectly - and a lovely delicate sauce); a goat dish (tender meat, lovely flavour - it is different yet vaguely similar to beef and not as strong as game - lean); a chicken kind of curry; wonderful rice; plantain; sweetcorn and spinach kinda loaf (really amazing) - plus starters, dips, and a great fruit cocktail and dessert - for £25 (byo). You can't get better value than that. Please, just do it: you won't be disappointed! It is a unique experience, with unique host - I wish I could give it more stars. We were a group of 5 and everyone loved it.

“Great food and hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Visited Stella's Kitchen in a group of 8 after a friend had spotted the sign whilst cycling through Eyam. Sounded great and lived up to it's promise. Stella was welcoming and good company. The food was lovely and plentiful, and everyone enjoyed the evening. The only downside is that space is limited, but this didn't bother us, in fact it added to the fun with all eight of us sitting round the table in the cosy kitchen.
