“Highlight of Greece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Amazing hotel. The rooms are simple and nothing out of the ordinary from what you would expect from Greece, but they are comfortable with private bathrooms, balconies and good A/C. The location is great - but not much to say there as Apollon is pretty small. Beach is across the street. What really set this hotel apart, however, is the service! The owner is so kind and helpful and drops everything to help you with a question. He goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and that you have a great time in Naxos. I felt very well looked after! They also have a garden and most of the food is home made or home grown and delicious.

Apollon is also a lovely place to visit after all the crowds of tourists elsewhere. It is small and quiet and very Greek and the beach is lovely. It is a perfect place to relax for a few days!

I recently participated in a Greek dance seminar in Apollon and some of the dancers were accommodated at Adonis Hotel. If I had chosen this hotel myself I could not have asked for better. Stamatis, the owner, and his staff welcomed us with open arms and were always on hand to answer our queries, arrange taxis, ferry tickets etc. The morning I left at 5.45 a.m. Stamatis was there to farewell me. I think he never sleeps! He is an outstanding host. Apart from the usual, it's the little things that make one's stay memorable. For instance, being offered a slice of a delicious lemon sweet which had just been made and which we again sampled at dinner in the evening. And having Stamatis, an expert dancer, join in our dancing after dinner. The hotel is spotless and the service impeccable. My room on the lower floor was very cosy and despite being close to the street, a cleverly designed curtain which let in the light also ensured privacy. There were shutters as well. I had only a small view of the sea but as I hardly had time to sit on the terrace, this did not worry me. In fact, it was rather fun to watch the people passing, especially the locals and hearing them call out ''yasas'' to their friends at Adonis. The tiny village of Apollon is magical. No madding crowds, no rows of sunlounges/umbrellas on the beach. There is a choice of crossing sand or pebbles before plunging into the clean sea. Flowers and fruits grow in the wild in abundance. Greek music can be heard coming from homes and tavernas. As at Adonis Hotel, all the locals are very friendly and if you allow it, one has the feeling of being absorbed into the Greek way of life. It is also a great base for visiting nearby villages. But, don't forget to see the famous kouros in Apollon, dating back to the 6th century B.C. If you like large, luxury, sterile hotels you will not find them here but if you prefer small, hospitable and friendly places, then I highly recommend Adonis Hotel in Apollon. I hope to return very soon. Anna Travali

We came to hotel Adonis with our friends who also stayed at the perfect little spot last year, and whom had been talking so warmly about it, we almost didn't believe it could be true - but it was! The Hotel is so nice and clean, all rooms have balconies where you can just sit and stare at the waves just on the other side of the road - their sound lulling you to sleep at night :) the owner Mr. Stamatis is the nicest ever! Helpful and happy all the way through! I could keep going on about this lovley little place in paradis - but just know, it's perfect! We'll come back any time!!!

Every now and then you come across a really special place that you prefer to keep to yourself, but in the spirit of Tripadvisor, here's why...
First, Apollon is a very cute little port town which reminded me of places like Oia (Santorini) and Platis Yialis (Mykonos) when I first visited them over 30 years ago. There's a small beach, a few fishing boats, several reasonably-prices restaurants, a small supermarket, lots of Greeks and not too many tourists at all.
There are two hotels here and, by chance, we landed up at the Adonis. We had no booking but were greeted by a friendly receptionist who said she would check if there was something available. The hotel owner (Mr Stamatis) duly appeared and kindly showed us two different rooms so we could make a selection. We only stayed one night but could happily have spent a week here. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and very good value at 45 Euros a night. Hotels of this standard can cost anything up to 200 Euros a night in Mykonos!
Family-owned hotels, if run properly, can add enormously to one's overall experience of a place and Mr Stamatis is the host par excellence. Friendly and courteous, knowledgeable and articulate, we enjoyed talking to him about Naxos and Apollon and Greece and the Euro crisis and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies with sea views. It is worth paying a little extra for one of these.

Very friendly and helpful staff and owner family. Even if Naxos is a big island you really got the feeling of a small island here. Very peaceful. If the northern winds are to strong, go to Panermos beach in the south which is a 1,5 hours drive on beautiful mountainroads from Apollon. Don't forget to stay for a coffee in Aperathos a fantastic mountain village. There are several restaurants to chose from in Apollon and we liked Nikos which is across the street from the hotel.

We stayed in the Adonis hotel, Apollonas for a week at the end of June 2012 with our 7 month old baby. We travelled by bus from Naxos town. We were met with a warm welcome at the bus stop by the Hotel Proprietor, Stomatis.

The service offered by this hotel exceeded all our expectations. It is very well run by Stomatis and his parents.Spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and excellent value. We enjoyed numerous conversations with Stomatis on the veranda

The service offered in this hotel exceeded all our expectations. The room was spacious and the food was excellent. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome.

Our room was spacious with an east facing balcony looking out over the sea. We could hear the waves from our beds. We could sit in the shade all afternoon and evening. The hotel provided a cot with a proper mattress for the baby as well as a kettle. There was free wifi.

We loved Apollon. The local people are warm and friendly. It is a wonderfully calm village with practically no traffic. There is a choice of good tavernas overlooking the beach. During our stay there was a strong breeze which made for a perfect temperature. There are no mosquitos! The beach is lovely for swimming and just steps from the hotel. Lots of families with children.

This peaceful village is the ideal location for young families and well worth the trip. We would love to return again next year.

After a month travelling in Greece we felt this was the best value for money hotel we stayed in. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, with nice small touches like a built in washing line on the balcony, complete with clothes pegs. It's these small touches that set the Adonis apart. Stamatis and his family go out of their way to make you welcome, always on hand to answer questions and his Mother's home made jam is the best. We are keen walkers and Stamatis took time out to drive us to the start of a fantastic track which led us up an old marble path to Koronida village, the highest village on Naxos. The beach at Apollon is lovely for swimming and there are good tavernas. Happily it is spared rows of tourists shops and captures the magic of Greece at it's best.
