“A quality experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The staff are easy going, friendly, helpful, polite and nicely presented. Nothing is too much trouble. Excellent food every time. Hot food served on hot plates. Freshly made with choice ingredients. Very good value for money and very adequate portions. Be drawn in by the smiling faces and cosy ambiance. You better book a table as they are so popular.

“Where the locals go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

We stumbled across this while driving around the country, and it was delightful. I had venison and it was very good; everything we had was very fine. It is not quite a gourmet restaurant, but very decent, with a good bar and very friendly bartender. The building is a nice example of what would be called in the US "early colonial", i.e. late 1700's, early 1800's.
Be warned this is a really popular place; while we were there the people never stopped coming, and this was on a Wednesday night.

“Good Service, Nice Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

We were six friends who arrived without a booking and enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Nice big tables, lovely 'nibbles', reasonable food, well presented, with excellent service. Well worth a visit.

“Big portions, small price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012 via mobile

We were staying in a near by hotel on holiday & stumbled across the pub. It had a great atmosphere & very friendly staff. The food was served well & came fast, recommend the battered Brie as a starter...it was AMAZING! Massive portions both starters & mains, reasonable prices for the amount you got. Well worth a visit if you are in the area!
