We stayed here for nine days , wanting to recharge our batteries after a hectic year. Sougia is about as small a place as you can get yet still be on the map and it took us a few days to settle into the rhythm of doing absolutely nothing all day long , but we got there in the end .There are only four rooms in the hotel and as a previous reviewer mentioned number 4 faces away from the beach and I suspect is for short term stays , and there are of lot of these this time of year with walkers heading off in and arriving from all directions , god bless their energy . It is one of the nicest rooms we have had in Crete with a great shaded balcony overlooking the sea front . The pictures on the web site do not lie and the owners were friendly , welcoming and efficient .It is fairly new .I always like a haven to retreat to where we can sip wine / raki / etc.and read or just snooze and this is a place we will not soon forget .Its hard to get to , a two hour bus ride from Chania over spectacular , and dangerous , roads although little traffic and no real facilities .A perfect place to chill out but if you are looking for a heavy night life forget it .Restaurants all good and reasonable.
